The 2022 Hungarian Darts Trophy gets under way in Budapest on Friday as the qualifiers collide in Round One.

The tenth European Tour event of the season features 48 players battling it out for £140,000 in prize money at the BOK Sportcsarnok.

The top 16 players from the ProTour Order of Merit (as of June 28) are seeded and enter at the Second Round stage on Saturday, while 32 qualifiers battle it out for the right to join them.

The afternoon session features an all-Northern Irish battle between two-time major champion Daryl Gurney and seven-time Development Tour event winner Nathan Rafferty.

21-year-old sensation Josh Rock, a first-time Tour Card holder and winner of four Development Tour titles this year, takes on Lithuanian number one Darius Labanauskas.

France’s top darting export Thibault Tricole, runner-up in this year’s WDF World Championship, faces Czech ace Karel Sedlacek – who came through the East European Qualifier.

Canadian number one Jeff Smith opens up against six-time Development Tour winner Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, while Latvian ace Madars Razma takes on German Associate Member qualifier Franz Rötzsch.

Former BDO world finalist Jim Williams, winner of a ProTour event in his debut season as a PDC Tour Card holder, starts out against Brett Claydon, while Croatia’s Boris Krcmar meets debutant Levente Sarai – one of four Host Nation representatives.

Two-time ProTour event winner Jeffrey De Zwaan looks to avoid an upset at the hands of Hungary’s Andras Borbely, while Janos Vegso, Hungary’s top-ranked star, faces World Cup winner Simon Whitlock in the evening session.

Five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld returns to Euro Tour action to face in-form Rowby-John Rodriguez – who defeated Jonny Clayton on his World Matchplay debut in July.

Former Lakeside Champion Stephen Bunting, semi-finalist in the most recent Euro Tour event, faces a tough opener against two-time ProTour event winner Callan Rydz – semi-finalist in the Dutch Darts Championship.

Dave Chisnall, whose most recent Euro Tour triumph came in 2019, has been drawn to face Swedish World Cup stalwart Daniel Larsson.

German number one Gabriel Clemens, multiple finalist on the ProTour, takes on six-time Development Tour event winner Ryan Meikle.

Multiple major semi-finalist Chris Dobey opens up against World Youth Champion Ted Evetts, while former Premier League ‘Contender’ William O’Connor meets Host Nation hopeful Pal Szekely.

Three-time Euro Tour event winner Ian White takes on Martin Lukeman – runner-up in this year’s German Darts Grand Prix.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with First Round matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
