PDC Order of Merit following the 2021 European Darts Championship
Rob Cross has retained his place in the world’s top 16 after securing a second European Championship title in Salzburg.
Cross, who initially triumphed in 2019, defeated Michael van Gerwen 11-8 in Sunday’s final to mark a sensational return to the winner’s circle.
Defending £100,000 against his ranking going into the tournament, Cross was in danger of dropping to as low as 24th in the PDC Order of Merit, but remarkably landed the £120,000 top prize to climb one place in the ranking list to eleventh.
With minimal prize money to defend between now and the end of the season, Cross appears well-poised to resume his quest for a return to the world’s top eight.
The top six remain unchanged following the European Championship, while Jose De Sousa climbs above Jonny Clayton into seventh after the Welshman’s failure to qualify for the event.
Nathan Aspinall, who enjoyed a superb run to the Semi-Finals before losing out to MVG in an epic last-leg decider, climbs two places to ninth, with Dave Chisnall dropping two places to 12th after failing to qualify.
Danny Noppert was one of the main movers over the weekend as he continued his fine run of form, following up a Semi-Final appearance at the recent World Grand Prix by reaching the Quarter-Finals in Salzburg.
Noppert has subsequently climbed a further six places to 16th, a landmark moment for the Dutchman as he enters the elite bracket for the first time.
Daryl Gurney, meanwhile, has tumbled a further seven places in the Order of Merit to 23rd after his failure to qualify for the European Championship.
Damon Heta, Darius Labanauskas and Kim Huybrechts have each climbed five places to 32nd, 33rd and 34th respectively.
Jeffrey de Zwaan drops five places to 37th, with Ross Smith down three places to 38th and Ricky Evans down five places to 39th.
William Borland’s debut run to the Last 16 sees him climb 12 places and into the world’s top 64 for the first time.
Germany’s Florian Hempel rises 16 places to 91st after also reaching the Last 16, while Czech teenager Adam Gawlas is up 19 places to 95th after also reaching Round Two on his debut.
