PDC Order of Merit following the 2021 UK Open: Wade reclaims top four spot

James Wade has climbed to fourth in the PDC Order of Merit after picking up his third UK Open title on Sunday.

Having initially won the UK Open in 2008 and 2011, Wade ended a ten-year wait for his hat-trick by denying Luke Humphries his first major title with a dominant display in the final.

Wade’s success sees him join Phil Taylor in winning televised PDC titles across three decades and means he becomes only the third player in PDC history to enter double figures of televised trophies.

He also regains a spot in the world’s top four as a result, leapfrogging former World Champion Rob Cross in the Order of Merit.

Prize money from the 2019 UK Open was deducted following last week’s PDC Super Series, though there have been a number of significant movers following the season’s first ranked major.

Former World Youth Champion Humphries enjoyed a magnificent run to his first senior televised final and has subsequently climbed eight places to 33rd in the PDC Order of Merit.

Devon Petersen, who reached the Quarter-Finals of the UK Open for the first time since 2015, moves up two places to 30th as he continues his impressive progress.

Chris Dobey is up two places to 22nd after a resurgent run to the Last 16 – where he was eventually beaten by world number one Gerwyn Price.

Steve Beaton and William O’Connor have dropped two places to 35th and 37th respectively, while Daryl Gurney leapfrogs 2019 UK Open champion Nathan Aspinall into tenth position.

Peter Jacques, who regained his Tour Card at Qualifying School in January, embarked on a terrific run to the Last 16 and has climbed nine places to 80th.

Martijn Kleermaker is up five places to 64th after also reaching the Last 16 in Milton Keynes, having missed the recent World Championship due to a positive Covid test.

Alan Soutar’s storming start to life as a Tour Card holder continued with a run to the Last 16 on his UK Open debut, and the Scot is up a further eight places to 85th in the rankings.
