The field of amateur qualifiers for the 2022 UK Open has been confirmed following the final Rileys events this weekend.

A total of 16 amateur players will join the 128 PDC Tour Card holders, eight 2021 Development Tour qualifiers and eight 2021 Challenge Tour qualifiers in the UK Open next month.

The multi-board event known as ‘The FA Cup of Darts’ will return to Butlins Minehead from March 4-6 with a total prize fund of £450,000 on offer.

The amateur qualifiers were held in Rileys clubs across the UK throughout February and saw a host of notable names secure a place in the main event.

Among them was former BDO World Champion Jelle Klaasen, as well as Hong Kong’s Kai Fan Leung and Scotland’s Ryan Murray – who also dropped off the main tour at the end of last season.

Five-time World Championship participant Diogo Portela progressed through the Rileys Victoria qualifier in London, while American ace Danny Lauby triumphed in Chorlton to seal his UK Open debut.

Paul Hogan continued his affinity with the UK Open by qualifying via Rileys for the sixth time since 2014, having notably reached the Last 16 in 2017 and 2018.

Former PDC Tour Card holders Prakash Jiwa, Scott Taylor and Ryan Harrington also clinched a return to the UK Open, alongside Challenge Tour regular Dan Read.

The draw for the 2022 UK Open is expected to take place next week, as the amateur qualifiers join the Development Tour and Challenge Tour qualifiers, plus the players ranked 97-128 on the PDC Order of Merit in the First Round.

Players ranked 65-96 will enter at the Second Round stage, while those ranked 33-64 enter in Round Three and the world’s top 32 join the competition in Round Four.

A live random draw is held for each of the following rounds after the conclusion of the Third Round.
