The First Round action draws to a close on Day Two of the 2022 WDF World Darts Championship at Lakeside on Sunday.

The opening day of the inaugural event at ‘The Home of World Darts’ saw three-time World Champion Martin Adams bow out alongside the likes of Paul Hogan and Haupai Puha, while Jim McEwan put down an early marker with a 101.3 average in his straight sets win.

A further double-header of action follows at Frimley Green on Sunday, with the afternoon session commencing with a clash between Canada’s David Cameron and England’s Ian Jones.

Ryan de Vreede, who has appeared in both the PDC and BDO World Championships, starts his campaign against Italian qualifier Francesco Raschini.

Lee Shewan and Jordan Brooks collide for the right to take on 2020 BDO World Champion Wayne Warren in the Second Round, while Belgium’s John Desreumaux faces Australia’s Donovan Lottering with sixth seed James Hurrell awaiting the winner.

Scotland’s Lorraine Hyde faces Aussie youngster Tori Kewish in the Women’s Draw for the right to face top seed Deta Hedman in Round Two, while 2002 World Championship semi-finalist Vicky Pruim meets New Zealand’s Desi Mercer with Lorraine Winstanley awaiting the winner.

The evening session features a clash between pre-tournament favourite Connor Scutt and Canada’s Shawn Burt for the right to take on second seed Thibault Tricole.

Scutt, who secured a PDC Tour Card for the first time at Qualifying School in January, reached the Semi-Finals of Players Championship Three the following month.

Mikuru Suzuki starts her bid for a third World Championship title with a tie against 2020 World Championship quarter-finalist Laura Turner.

Japanese star Suzuki, who claimed the BDO world title on her Lakeside debut in 2019, retained the crown at The Indigo O2 a year later and is out to continue her emphatic unbeaten record.

Former Grand Slam qualifier Dave Parletti aims to gain his first Lakeside win when he faces Scotland’s Shaun McDonald – winner of a PDC Challenge Tour event in 2021.

Four-time PDC World Championship qualifier Steve ‘The Muffin Man’ Hine marks his Lakeside debut with a tie against USA qualifier Kevin Luke.

James Richardson, who reached the Last 16 of the 2017/18 PDC World Championship and is a former Challenge Tour event winner, opens up against Poland’s Sebastian Steyer – semi-finalist in the 2019 BDO World Trophy.

America’s Paula Murphy takes on Hungary’s Veronika Ihasz for the right to face in-form youngster Beau Greaves in the Second Round of the women’s event.

The action gets under way from 1pm BST, with all First Round ties to be contested over the best of five sets. All sets are best of five legs.
