WDF World Championship 2025

The fourth staging of the WDF World Championship will take place from November 28 to December 7 at the iconic Lakeside Country Club.

A total of 48 men, 24 women, eight boys and four girls will compete for the respective titles and an overall prize fund of £221,000.

Shane McGuirk is the defending men’s champion, having defeated Singapore legend Paul Lim 6-3 in last year’s final to claim his first Lakeside crown.

Ireland’s McGuirk is bidding to become the first male to successfully retain this title, but faces stern competition from the likes of top seed Jimmy van Schie and former champion Neil Duff.

A strong North American contingent includes Jason Brandon, David Fatum, Jeff Springer and Kevin Luke, while Australia’s Raymond Smith and New Zealand’s Ben Robb also make the long journey to Lakeside in search of glory.

Former PDC Tour Card holders Jeffrey Sparidaans, Brian Raman, Matt Clark and David Pallett also feature, while 15-year-old Mitchell Lawrie will become the youngest player ever to feature in the main draw, breaking the record set by Luke Littler in 2022.

With Beau Greaves having opted to compete in the PDC World Championship, a new name is guaranteed on the Women’s trophy, with the field headed by top seed Lerena Rietbergen.

Last year’s runner-up Sophie McKinlay, three time, BDO world finalist Deta Hedman, two-time BDO world finalist Rhian O’Sullivan and 2023 runner-up Aileen de Graaf are also among the seeded contingent.

Mikuru Suzuki, BDO World Champion in 2019 and 2020, returns to the line-up alongside the likes of emerging star Paige Pauling and Finland’s Kirsi Viinikainen.

The tournament will be streamed live on YouTube, while action from Wednesday to Friday afternoon to be shown on S4C in the UK.
