"Voltage"
Biography
Rob Cross delivered one of darts’ greatest fairy tales by becoming world champion on his debut.
The Sussex-born electrician, nicknamed “Voltage,” qualified for the 2016 UK Open as an amateur and impressed on the Challenge Tour before earning a Tour Card for 2017. He won four Players Championship titles in his debut season and then stunned the world by beating Phil Taylor 7-2 to lift the 2018 World Championship in only his first year as a professional.
Cross endured a difficult 2018 season but bounced back in 2019 with World Matchplay and European Championship victories, and he captured a second European Championship crown in 2021. A consistent performer with a smooth action, Cross continues to challenge for major titles and remains one of the sport’s most dangerous finishers.
