Biography

Portuguese star José de Sousa is the first major champion from his nation.

“The Special One” captured headlines by winning his Tour Card in 2019 and quickly following up with a maiden ranking title before claiming the 2020 European Darts Grand Prix. He wrote history later that year by capturing the Grand Slam of Darts, becoming the first Portuguese player to win a televised PDC title, and he reached the Premier League final in 2021.

Known for his unorthodox counting and superb finishing, de Sousa continues to mix it with the sport’s elite. He remains a prolific 180 hitter with two televised nine-dart finishes to his name and continues to challenge for titles on both the European Tour and Players Championship circuits.
