Biography
German favourite Florian Hempel swapped a professional handball career for darts and has never looked back.
Hempel first made headlines at Alexandra Palace when he defeated Dimitri Van den Bergh en route to the third round of his World Championship debut in 2021/22. Since earning his Tour Card in 2021 he has become a fixture on the PDC circuit, featuring in the UK Open, European Championship and Players Championship Finals and gaining a reputation for his solid scoring and steely finishing.
The Cologne-based thrower continues to hone his craft and has enjoyed some eye-catching ProTour runs in the 2024/25 season. With his athletic background and dedicated work ethic, Hempel is targeting bigger stages and deeper runs over the coming years.
