Veteran thrower Andrew ‘Goldfinger’ Gilding wrote one of darts’ great comeback stories by lifting the 2023 UK Open title.
Having regained his Tour Card in 2021, the Suffolk star stunned the darting world by defeating Michael van Gerwen 11-10 in the UK Open final to clinch his first televised crown. The following months saw him return to the world’s top 20 and reach the World Grand Prix quarter-finals, reaffirming his big-stage pedigree.
Known for his unique stance and unflappable temperament, Gilding continues to produce heavy scoring and upset the sport’s giants on the ProTour. His gritty performances and late-career renaissance make him a player not to be underestimated.
