Field confirmed for 2022 World Series of Darts Finals
The field of players for the 2022 World Series of Darts Finals has been confirmed ahead of September’s event in Amsterdam.
The non-ranking event will take place from September 16-18 at the AFAS Live as 24 players compete for the £70,000 top prize.
An internationally diverse line-up will see players from Europe, North America, Oceania and Africa battle it out, with eight seeds joined by eight invited players and a further eight Tour Card holder qualifiers.
The world’s top three – Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen – will be among the favourites for the title alongside defending champion Jonny Clayton.
Dimitri Van den Bergh is the top seed thanks to World Series event wins in Copenhagen and Amsterdam, with Michael Smith, Clayton, James Wade, Joe Cullen and Gary Anderson also seeded courtesy of finishing in the top eight on the 2022 World Series Order of Merit.
Peter Wright, who missed August’s triple-header in Australia and New Zealand for medical reasons, is one of the eight invited players and is therefore unseeded.
American duo Leonard Gates and Danny Baggish are in line for World Series Finals debuts, while Canada’s Matt Campbell and South Africa’s Devon Petersen will also feature.
Australian thrower Gordon Mathers enjoyed a run to the Semi-Finals of the Queensland Masters, as well as competing in the New South Wales Masters and New Zealand Masters.
New Zealand’s Haupai Puha has secured a World Series Finals debut, having competed in both Townsville and Wollongong last month.
Fallon Sherrock will make her second successive appearance in the competition having featured in every World Series event this year, while Dutch ace Dirk van Duijvenbode will look to thrill his home crowd.
World Cup winners Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock are also among the invitees, while UK Open champion Danny Noppert and fellow Dutchman Vincent van der Voort came through the Tour Card Holder qualifier last month.
The draw will be confirmed in due course.
