Live Darts on Sunday | Winmau World Masters 2025 Day Four Preview and Order of Play
The inaugural PDC Winmau World Masters reaches its climax in Milton Keynes on Sunday as the final eight vie to become the first name on the new trophy.
The revamped ranking major has provided drama and excitement in abundance, and a gripping final day of day of action will the quarter-finals played down to a winner over two sessions at the Marshall Arena.
Seven seeded players and one Order of Merit qualifier are left standing in the race for the £100,000 top prize as they bid to claim the first ranking silverware of the season.
Dimitri van den Bergh stole the headlines with a stunning victory over five-time PDC Masters champion Michael van Gerwen on Saturday night which included a roof-raising nine-darter.
The Belgian number one held his nerve to deny Van Gerwen in a deciding set and remain in contention for a second major title inside 12 months.
The reigning UK Open champion will now face former UK Open champion Nathan Aspinall in the quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon.
Aspinall has breezed through to the Last Eight for the loss of just one set, having thrashed Andrew Gilding 3-0 with a 103.7 average, before recovering from a set down to reel off four in a row for a comfortable win over Cameron Menzies despite averaging 90.8.
Newly-crowned World Champion Luke Littler steps up his quest for back-to-back major titles with a showdown against in-form Jonny Clayton.
Littler, who made history by becoming the sport’s youngest ever World Champion last month, is vying to become the first name on the new Winmau World Masters trophy and made the perfect preparation for the start of his Premier League title defence in Belfast on Thursday.
The 18-year-old blitzed past Andy Baetens in straight sets with a 104 average on Friday, before whitewashing James Wade in eight unanswered legs with a 105.5 average, affording his opponent no darts at doubles.
Clayton, the 2021 PDC Masters champion, set a new personal record televised average of 112.77 in a blistering 3-1 win over Martin Schindler, before battling back from 3-1 down to edge out Ryan Searle in a deciding leg and set up a first televised tie with Littler.
The afternoon’s opening quarter-final sees world number one Luke Humphries take on Australian number one Damon Heta.
Humphries is searching for his seventh major ranking title, having claimed the World Matchplay crown in 2024 before retaining the Players Championship Finals title.
The 2024 World Champion and Premier League finalist has dropped just one set so far this week, dispatching Joe Cullen 3-1 before whitewashing Josh Rock 4-0 on Saturday.
Heta, who is bidding to avenge his defeat to Humphries at the Players Championship Finals last November, is appearing in his eighth major televised ranking quarter-final.
Nine-dart hero at the World Championship, Heta has made an impressive start to the new campaign by defeating Ross Smith and Gerwyn Price, notably surviving a match dart in the latter before holding his nerve on double two in the deciding leg.
Meanwhile, last year’s PDC Masters champion Stephen Bunting resumes his bid to go back-to-back in Milton Keynes when he meets Dutch ace Danny Noppert.
Crowd favourite Bunting, who secured his first televised PDC title here 12 months ago and claimed glory at the Bahrain Masters a fortnight ago, battled back from two sets down to deny qualifier Willie Borland on opening night, before seeing off Peter Wright 4-2 in the Last 16.
Former UK Open champion Noppert is through to a tenth PDC major ranking quarter-final following victories over former World Champion Michael Smith and qualifier William O’Connor for the loss of just one set.
The action gets under way from 12.45pm GMT, with quarter-final matches to be contested over the best of seven sets, semi-finals best of nine and the final best of 11. All sets are best of three legs.
