The final four face off at the 2026 World Grand Prix in Leicester on Saturday as they bid to keep their title dream alive.

A star-studded semi-final line-up features three previous winners of this title and a former runner-up battling it out at the Mattioli Arena.

With defending champion Luke Littler having crashed out in the opening round, the opportunity presents itself for a new name to be added to the roll of honour in a televised ranking event this season.

The opening semi-final tie sees 2020 champion Gerwyn Price take on 2022 runner-up Nathan Aspinall in what is remarkably the first meeting between the pair for 18 months.

Price clinched this title behind closed doors six years ago before finishing runner-up in 2021 and 2023, and has continued the form which led him to the final of last week’s World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam.

The Welsh number one is appearing in a fifth World Grand Prix semi-final in the space of seven years and is looking to end a five-year wait for major ranking silverware.

Price opened up with a 101.6 average in seeing off debutant Sebastian Bialecki, before avenging his defeat to Ross Smith in the World Series Final with a 3-0 rout.

He then pulled off a sensational comeback from two sets down and then two legs down in the deciding set to deny his compatriot Jonny Clayton, surviving three match darts in the process.

Aspinall, meanwhile, has produced his best form in any major tournament within the past 12 months and stands on the verge of an eighth major final appearance.

The former UK Open and World Matchplay champion recovered from a set down and survived three match darts to edge out Kevin Doets in a decider, narrowly averting what would have been a fifth first round exit in his last seven World Grand Prix appearances, but was emphatic in thrashing Luke Woodhouse 3-0 in the Last 16.

He then registered the fourth highest average in the 28-year history of the tournament (105.15) and landed seven 180s in a three-set demolition of Ryan Joyce in the quarter-finals.

The second semi-final sees 2023 champion Luke Humphries go head-to-head with two-time champion James Wade.

Humphries has won 15 of their 22 previous meetings, including each of their last three, though this will be their first encounter over the double-start format.

Humphries is bidding to reach the final of this event for the fourth consecutive year, having finished runner-up in his last two outings.

The world number two is yet to drop a set this week, safely seeing off Dave Chisnall, Jermaine Wattimena and Niels Zonneveld with a clinical display of starting doubles in particular.

Wade, champion in Dublin in 2007 and 2010, is through to a first World Grand Prix semi-final since 2014 and is unbeaten in each of his last three major semi-finals.

Wade, one of only three multiple winners of this title, is making his 22nd consecutive World Grand Prix appearance and has continued the form which guided him to the recent Australian Masters and Flanders Darts Trophy titles.

The 43-year-old came from a set down to defeat Joe Cullen in Round One before brushing aside Stephen Bunting 3-1 and dropping just one leg in a straight sets rout of Gian van Veen on Friday night.

The action gets under way from 8pm BST, with semi-final matches to be contested over the best of nine sets.
