The draw for the 2025 World Grand Prix has been confirmed, with Mike De Decker to open his title defence against Peter Wright.

The 28th staging of the televised ranking tournament will take place from October 6-12 at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester as 32 players compete for £600,000 in prize money.

The top 16 players on the main PDC Order of Merit are joined by the next 16 highest ranked players from the ProTour Order of Merit in the unique double-start format.

Reigning champion De Decker, who secured his maiden major title in fairy-tale fashion 12 months ago, will commence his bid to become only the third player in history to retain this title when he faces 2018 runner-up Wright.

World number one Luke Humphries, who clinched his first major title on this stage two years ago, starts his quest to regain the trophy with a blockbuster clash against 2022 finalist Nathan Aspinall.

Reigning World Champion Luke Littler launches his pursuit of a fourth televised ranking title of 2025 with a showdown against World Youth Champion Gian van Veen.

Six-time champion Michael van Gerwen, who returned to the winner’s circle at the recent World Series Finals, faces an all-Dutch encounter with 2020 runner-up Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Gary Anderson, runner-up in 2016, takes on two-time finalist Raymond van Barneveld in another stand-out tie, while 2020 champion Gerwyn Price has been drawn to face Ryan Searle.

Fifth seed James Wade, champion in 2007 and 2010 in Dublin, takes on Joe Cullen, while 2021 champion Jonny Clayton comes up against former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding.

World number four Stephen Bunting takes on German debutant Niko Springer, while eighth seed Chris Dobey faces Scotland’s Cameron Menzies.

Former World Champion Rob Cross faces a tricky tie against Dutch debutant Wessel Nijman, as World Cup of Darts winner Josh Rock meets 2024 semi-finalist Ryan Joyce.

Daryl Gurney, the 2017 champion, opens up against former European Champion Ross Smith, while Australian number one Damon Heta faces Swiss Darts Trophy finalist Luke Woodhouse.

German number one Martin Schindler meets Polish number one Krzysztof Ratajski, as Dutch duo Danny Noppert and Jermaine Wattimena also go head-to-head.

The full schedule of play will be confirmed in due course.
