US Darts Masters 2025 | Day Two Preview and Order of Play – Final eight face off for glory in New York
The 2025 US Darts Masters draws to a close in New York on Saturday as the final eight face off for the title at Madison Square Garden.
A dramatic opening night saw two of the PDC stars suffer shock early exits in the Big Apple, including defending champion Rob Cross.
Day Two of the season’s fourth World Series event plays host to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in one bumper season at The Hulu Theater.
An out of sorts Cross was emphatically whitewashed 6-0 by Danny Lauby – whose reward is a quarter-final showdown with world number one Luke Humphries.
Tour Card holder Lauby, a former Lakeside quarter-finalist, will look to replicate those heroics against the reigning World Masters and Premier League champion – who is bidding for just his second World Series silverware.
Humphries was forced to dig deep to overcome former Grand Slam quarter-finalist Stowe Buntz 6-4 on Friday and is now targeting a place in just his second World Series semi-final of 2025.
Meanwhile, reigning World Champion Luke Littler faces a familiar opponent in Nathan Aspinall as the pair collide for the 17th time since 2024.
Littler boasts a dominant head-to-head record of 14 wins to two, though it was Aspinall who prevailed in their most recent meeting at the Nordic Masters earlier this month.
Littler is bidding for his fourth World Series title in total and a first of 2025, having opened up with a routine 6-1 win over a struggling Jules van Dongen with a 92 average on Friday.
Aspinall hit the ground running by firing in eight 180s and averaging 104.7 in his 6-2 success over Tour Card holder Matt Campbell, and the Premier League semi-finalist will be determined to pick up from where he left off last night.
Another mouth-watering contest sees 2023 US Masters champion Michael van Gerwen face last year’s runner-up – Gerwyn Price.
Van Gerwen marked his return to competitive action for the first time in over a month with a ruthless 6-1 win over Leonard Gates, averaging 99.6 in the process.
The Dutch legend, who has racked up 21 World Series titles, now faces one of the most consistent performers in the World Series over the past 12 months, with Price having clinched two titles and reached a further two finals during that period.
Runner-up in the recent World Cup of Darts, Price continued his blistering spell of form by averaging 102.5 in a 6-2 success over CDC qualifier Adam Sevada on Friday, going seven darts in to the perfect nine at one stage.
The opening quarter-final sees world number ten Damon Heta take on CDC star Jason Brandon.
Heta, runner-up in last year’s New Zealand Masters, marked his debut on the MSG stage with a thumping 6-1 in over Canada’s Jim Long.
Lakeside semi-finalist Brandon, meanwhile, pulled off a huge upset by dumping out world number four Stephen Bunting with a 6-4 scalp to earn his first victory on the World Series stage.
The action gets under way from 12.30am BST, with Quarter-Final matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
