Premier League Darts 2026 | Night Eight Berlin Preview and Order of Play
Premier League Darts is back in Berlin for Night Eight on Thursday as the league phase reaches the halfway stage.
A sold-out Uber Arena welcomes the sport’s elite eight, with crucial fixtures on the cards at both ends of the table.
Luke Littler became the second player to secure multiple weekly titles this season when he triumphed in Dublin last time out, closing the gap at the top of the table to just three points.
The world number one, who produced an astonishing comeback from 5-0 down with six legs on the spin to stun Gerwyn Price in the final, faces a repeat of last week’s opener against Stephen Bunting.
Littler defied a 104 average from Bunting by clinching a 6-3 victory with an average of 105, maintaining his dominant head-to-head record over ‘The Bullet’ in the Premier League.
Bunting, however, returns to the German capital with fond memories, having ended his eight-match losing run here last year in dream fashion by going on to win the Night Nine title.
Bunting, winner of Night Four in Belfast this season, remains second from bottom of the table on seven points but is just four points adrift of the play-off places.
League leader Jonny Clayton looks to maintain his grip on top spot when he takes on rock bottom Josh Rock in the opening match of the evening.
Clayton suffered his first quarter-final defeat of the campaign last time out but remains nine points clear of fifth spot and with a tournament-high checkout success of 46.5 per cent.
The Welshman ensured a harsh introduction to life in the Premier League for Rock when he averaged 109.8 in their meeting on opening night in Newcastle, defying a 101.8 average from the debutant.
Rock remains without a point to his name after seven weeks of competition and is out to bounce back from last week’s humiliating 6-0 whitewash at the hands of Price, in which he averaged just 84.2.
Gian van Veen returns to action after missing last week’s trip to Ireland in order to undergo an operation for kidney stones.
The European Champion consequently dropped out of the top four for the first time this season and has faced a race to recover sufficiently in time to feature in Berlin after being hospitalised for much of the last week.
The Dutch debutant is without a league win since Night Four, having initially finished runner-up in three of the opening four nights.
Price, meanwhile, was left to rue an astonishing missed opportunity in Dublin, squandering a 5-0 lead in the final having earlier demolished Rock and Luke Humphries 6-0 and 6-1 respectively.
The former World Champion remains handily-placed in third spot and has won nine of his 11 previous meetings with Van Veen across all competitions.
Elsewhere, reigning champion Humphries and seven-time champion Van Gerwen face off in a repeat of Sunday’s Belgian Darts Open semi-final.
Humphries romped to a 7-2 victory before going on to seal the title in Wieze for his ninth European Tour silverware.
However, his Premier League form has proved to be indifferent so far, with six wins from 13 matches and just one weekly final appearance to his name.
The world number two climbed into the top four last week for the first time since Night One and is just one point ahead of Van Gerwen.
Van Gerwen has remarkably failed to register a win since Night Two, having withdrawn from Night Three before suffering three straight quarter-final defeats and receiving a quarter-final walkover in Dublin last week.
The Dutchman was denied in a deciding leg by Littler in the semi-finals with a 99 average and will be buoyed by his run to the Last Four in Wieze at the weekend.
The action gets under way from 6pm GMT (7pm local time), with all matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
