Premier League Darts 2025 Night Three Preview and Order of Play | Big names descend on Dublin
Premier League Darts visits Dublin for Night Three on Thursday as the elite eight lock horns at a sold-out 3Arena.
The world’s top two have exchanged the opening two weekly titles to put their stamp on the tournament, and the chasing pack will be out to get in on the act in Ireland.
Defending champion Luke Littler picked up his first weekly title of the campaign in Glasgow last time out with a hat-trick of ton-plus averages to his name.
The reigning World Champion also landed a showpiece 170 checkout on his way to scooping the £10,000 bonus and is chasing down last year’s tally of four weekly titles.
Littler was beaten in a deciding leg by Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals on opening night despite averaging 113.9, but bounced back in clinical fashion in Glasgow and will be keen to pick up from where he left off.
The 18-year-old skipped the midweek Players Championship double-header in Rosmalen and comes in fresh for his quarter-final clash with Gerwyn Price.
The pair last met at the Bahrain Masters a month ago, where an inspired Price averaged 115.3 to defeat Littler 6-2 in the quarter-finals.
Price bounced back from his quarter-final defeat in Belfast by claiming the Players Championship Two title, before reaching the semi-finals in Glasgow – where he was denied by Luke Humphries.
Night One winner Humphries gets his quest for a second weekly title of the campaign under way with a clash against Bahrain Masters champion Stephen Bunting.
Humphries has picked up eight points from a possible ten so far, having been denied back-to-back triumphs by Littler in a deciding leg in last week’s final.
The 2025 World Masters champion also opted out of the midweek ProTours and will be out to maintain his perfect record in Dublin, having claimed victory here last year with a trio of ton-plus averages in the process.
Bunting has endured a difficult return to the Premier League following a ten-year absence, suffering successive quarter-final defeats at the hands of Rob Cross and Van Gerwen with sub-95 averages.
The world number five faces a formidable opener in Dublin as he looks to stop the rot and climb off the foot of the table in the early stages of the season.
Seven-time Premier League champion Van Gerwen resumes his pursuit of a first weekly title of the season when he faces in-form Chris Dobey.
Van Gerwen has lost to the eventual winner on both league nights so far, picking up four points in the process, and boasts a tournament average of 103.5.
The three-time World Champion suffered a shock First Round defeat to non Tour Card holder Michael Flynn on the ProTour on Monday, before withdrawing from Tuesday’s event on home soil in Rosmalen.
Dobey, meanwhile, stormed to the Players Championship 3 title on Monday, climbing in to the world’s top eight as a result.
The World Championship semi-finalist will be hoping to transfer his floor form back onto the televised stage, having reached the semi-finals on Night One before losing out to Humphries 6-4 in last week’s quarter-finals from 4-2 in front.
Nathan Aspinall aims to register his first points of the new campaign when he faces 2019 finalist Cross.
Aspinall, who narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season, lost his opening three matches in the 2024 Premier League and will be determined to avoid history repeating itself.
The two-time major winner was beaten 6-2 by Humphries in Belfast before losing out 6-4 to Price in Glasgow.
Cross has registered one win from three matches so far, defeating Bunting on opening night before losing out to Dobey and Littler.
Winner of a World Series event and a Players Championship already this season, Cross will be out to establish a degree of consistency in this competition, having missed out on the play-offs in each of his last three appearances.
The action gets under way from 7pm GMT, with all matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
