Premier League Darts heads to Brighton for Night Five on Thursday as the league table begins to take shape.

The opening four nights of the 17-week roadshow have produced three of different winners, with seven of the eight players having put points on the board.

A sold-out Brighton Centre awaits this week’s action as Luke Humphries looks to extend his lead at the top of the table.

Humphries triumphed in Exeter last week to claim his second weekly title of the campaign and open up a seven-point lead at the summit, having also finished runner-up on Night Two.

The world number one has fond memories of this venue, having claimed the Night Six title here 12 months ago with match averages of 105.5, 113.7 and 101.

Humphries begins his bid for a hat-trick this season with a clash against Rob Cross in a repeat of their semi-final encounter a week ago.

The 2024 World Champion landed back-to-back checkouts of 167 and 116 to wrap up a narrow 6-5 win, averaging 100 to Cross’ 98.8 in a high quality contest.

Cross ended a run of consecutive quarter-final defeats by overcoming Michael van Gerwen in Exeter, doubling his points tally for the campaign so far.

Meanwhile, newly-crowned UK Open champion Luke Littler aims to pick up from where he left off in Minehead as he vies for a second weekly title.

Littler stormed to a fifth major title inside ten months at the weekend, demolishing James Wade in the final, and continues to chase down the world number one spot.

The reigning Premier League and World Champion took victory on Night Two in Glasgow, before settling for second prize in Exeter last week as Humphries recorded his first Premier League win over his young rival.

Littler opens up against Chris Dobey in the quarter-finals for what will be their first Premier League meeting, with the 18-year-old looking to inflict a fourth straight quarter-final defeat on the Bedlington thrower.

Dobey finished runner-up on Night One in Belfast but is yet to pick up a point since, with his latest loss coming at the hands of Nathan Aspinall in a deciding leg last week.

Aspinall comes into Night Five with five points to his name, having started the competition with successive quarter-final defeats, before finishing runner-up in Dublin and reaching the semis in Exeter.

The Asp faces a showdown with struggling Stephen Bunting – who is the only player yet to get off the mark in this year’s event.

The world number six, however, will be encouraged by his recent performances, averaging above 100 in defeats to Humphries and Littler over the past fortnight.

Crowd favourite Bunting will be determined to avoid a fifth straight defeat which could leave him cut adrift at the foot of the table in the early stages.

The opening quarter-final sees seven-time Premier League champion Michael van Gerwen take on Night Three winner Gerwyn Price.

Van Gerwen has made a low-key start to the campaign by his standards, with three consecutive semi-final defeats followed by a quarter-final exit in Exeter.

The World Championship finalist suffered a shock Last 32 defeat at the hands of Robert Owen in the UK Open which saw him squander a staggering 26 darts at doubles.

Van Gerwen had racked up three weekly titles at this stage of last season’s Premier League and will be desperate to open his account on the South Coast, though he faces a formidable opener against the rejuvenated Welshman.

Price occupies third spot with seven points to his name, having triumphed in Dublin, though he averaged just 89 in a quarter-final defeat to Humphries last week and was beaten 10-9 by Connor Scutt in Round Four of the UK Open.

The action gets under way from 7pm GMT, with all matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
