The Premier League Darts roadshow reaches Leeds for Night 14 on Thursday as the battle for play-off places continues.

Just three nights of league fixtures remain before the top four players in the league table progress to The O2 to compete for the sport’s most prestigious invitational title.

A sold-out First Direct Arena plays host to Night 14 of the competition, with Luke Humphries set for a memorable reception on his return to Yorkshire.

Humphries, an avid Leeds United supporter, marked a dream debut in Leeds by storming to the Night 15 title 12 months ago for the loss of just seven legs.

The world number one already has one foot in The O2 – where he was beaten in last year’s final – but could mathematically confirm his qualification in Leeds.

Humphries’ two nightly titles came during the opening four weeks and he has since finished runner-up on a further three occasions, maintaining second spot in the table.

The 2024 World Champion faces a quarter-final showdown with seven-time champion Michael van Gerwen – who remains in the thick of the play-off race.

Van Gerwen is one of only two players yet to pick up a weekly title this season but has crucially put points on the board in all but three nights so far.

German Darts Grand Prix winner a fortnight ago, MVG starts the night in fourth spot, one point ahead of Nathan Aspinall, and will be determined to keep his destiny in his own hands.

Aspinall slipped out of the top four for the first time since Night Nine following a narrow 6-5 defeat to Luke Littler in last week’s semi-finals, and the duo go head-to-head once again.

Aspinall, winner of Night 10 in Manchester, is vying to reach The O2 for the first time after finishing fifth in each of the last two campaigns.

However, his head-to-head record against Littler makes for grim reading, with the 18-year-old having won 12 of their 13 previous encounters.

Littler created a further slice of history last week by becoming the first player win five weekly titles in a single season since the introduction of this format in 2022.

The reigning champion mathematically clinched qualification for the play-offs and extended his lead at the top of the table to nine points, and could now equal the joint record points tally (40) he shares with Jonny Clayton if he can add a sixth weekly title in Leeds.

Gerwyn Price looks to cement his place in the play-off positions by overcoming Rob Cross in the opening quarter-final.

Price has three weekly titles to his name and is three points clear of Aspinall in fifth, putting him in pole position to reach the play-offs for only the second time.

Cross faces an uphill task if he is to disrupt the play-off mix, with four quarter-final exits in the last five weeks leaving him six points adrift of the top four and still without a weekly title to his name this season.

Meanwhile, a basement battle sees Chris Dobey and Stephen Bunting go head-to-head.

Bunting ended a run of eight straight defeats by claiming the Night Nine title and finished runner-up a fortnight later, but remains rooted to the foot of the table after back-to-back quarter-final losses.

Dobey, who defeated Bunting in the final in Rotterdam to clinch his first nightly title, has also suffered successive quarter-final defeats and is eight points adrift of the top four.

The action gets under way from 7pm BST, with all matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
