The Premier League Darts roadshow rolls in to Brighton for Night 11 on Thursday as the eight stars battle it out by the seaside.

Just six league nights remain before the top four in the league table will head to London’s O2 Arena next month to compete for the sport’s most prestigious invitational title.

Whilst the top two look all but assured of a place in the play-offs, it remains all to play for amongst the chasing pack, with five of the field having now picked up at least one weekly title.

Reigning champion Michael van Gerwen continues to lead the way at the top of the table and opens up the night’s action with a tie against Dimitri van den Bergh.

Van Gerwen has been top of the pile since Night Four, having racked up three weekly titles and finishing runner-up on a further two occasions.

The Dutchman suffered a Semi-Final defeat at the hands of eventual champion Jonny Clayton in Brighton last week, and after skipping the weekend’s European Tour event, will be keen to get back to winning ways.

Van Gerwen remains five points clear of nearest challenger Gerwyn Price and has won both of his meetings with Van den Bergh in this season’s Premier League so far, as well as a Semi-Final success at the UK Open last month.

Van den Bergh is bidding to end a run of three consecutive Quarter-Final exits which have left him second from bottom in the table and six points adrift of the top four.

The Belgian number one made his only final of the campaign so far on Night Three and faces a tall order if he is to inflict only MVG’s third Quarter-Final defeat of the tournament so far.

Elsewhere, world number four Price looks to pile the pressure on Van Gerwen in the race for top spot and take another step towards securing a play-off place for the first time.

The Welsh star, winner of three weekly titles, has lost in back-to-back Semi-Finals in Berlin and Birmingham despite losing averages of 99 and 101.3, and starts his latest quest for the £10,000 bonus against Masters champion Chris Dobey.

Price has won all three of his meetings with Dobey this season, including a 6-4 triumph in the Nottingham final and a Semi-Final success in Dobey’s hometown of Newcastle.

Dobey, who won the opening night in Belfast, remains in sight of the play-off places, trailing by five points, but knows he can ill-afford to leave the South coast empty-handed if he is to keep pace.

The Bedlington ace has suffered a clutch of defeats with ton-plus averages this term, including last week in Birmingham when he was beaten 6-2 by Van Gerwen despite averaging 106.5.

Nathan Aspinall looks to climb back in to the top four courtesy of a strong run this week, and he starts out against another former finalist in Peter Wright.

Aspinall had been the only player outside of Van Gerwen to have occupied a top four spot since Week One, but a Quarter-Final loss last time out saw that streak come to an end.

The 2020 runner-up heads to The Brighton Centre having reached his first European Tour final in Munich on Monday – where he was denied glory by Michael Smith.

Wright ended his barren run of results by reaching his first weekly final of the season in Birmingham, but remains four points adrift at the foot of the table and ten behind the top four.

The two-time World Champion suffered a crushing 6-1 defeat to qualifier Lee Evans in this week’s German Darts Grand Prix and another early exit here could finally end his faint hopes of a miraculous play-off push.

Michael Smith aims to pick up from where he left off in Munich on Monday when he faces back-to-back weekly title winner Jonny Clayton.

The world number one secured his sixth European Tour title and a first ranking triumph since his World Championship crown at Ally Pally in January.

Smith crucially occupies fourth spot heading in to Night 11, having prevailed on Night Three and finished runner-up on Night Six and Night Nine.

It was Clayton who denied ‘Bully Boy’ in the final in Berlin a fortnight ago, before going on to complete the double in Birmingham and continue his charge up the table into a season-high third position.

The 2021 champion is out to extend his six-game unbeaten run and maintain his record of having qualified for the play-offs in each season he has competed in the Premier League.

Night 11 of 2023 Premier League Darts gets under way in Brighton from 7pm BST, with all matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
