The 2024 World Cup of Darts reaches its finale in Frankfurt on Sunday as the eight remaining nations vie to claim the crown.

The prestigious pairs event is set for a fascinating climax at the Eissporthalle, with two former winners and a host of in-form outsiders left in the running.

The afternoon session plays host to the quarter-final ties, before the semi-finals and final take place in the evening.

World Champions Luke Humphries and Michael Smith remain red hot favourites to secure England’s first PDC World Cup title since Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis in 2016.

The Premier League duo swept aside Thibault Tricole and Jacques Labre of France 8-3 in Saturday’s opener, but will be eyeing a marked improvement on their match average of 86 when they take on Northern Ireland.

Josh Rock has enjoyed a terrific debut for Northern Ireland this weekend, partnering veteran Brendan Dolan to his nation’s seventh quarter-final.

Having beaten South Africa and Switzerland to top Group B, Rock and Dolan then edged out Martin Schindler and Gabriel Clemens of Germany in a dramatic deciding leg, punishing the hosts’ dismal finishing.

Two-time champions Scotland, meanwhile, step up their quest for the hat-trick with a showdown against in-form Sweden.

Gary Anderson partnered Peter Wright to glory in 2019, as well as finishing runners-up in 2023, and the decorated duo began strongly this year by thrashing Poland 8-2.

Jeffrey De Graaf has inspired Sweden to their joint best performance in this event, and he will be hoping to deliver again as the Swede’s aim to go one better than last year’s quarter-final exit to Wales.

De Graaf and Oskar Lukasiak dropped only one leg in topping Group K, before battling their way past Adam Gawlas and Karel Sedlacek in an 8-6 win over Czechia.

The formidable pairing of Dimitri van den Bergh and Kim Huybrechts look to seal an eighth semi-final appearance for Belgium when they take on rank outsiders Italy.

Van den Bergh and Huybrechts have seemingly put their personal differences to one side again to embark on another memorable run, following up wins over Singapore and the Philippines by dumping out the Netherlands for the second successive year.

The 2013 finalists defied a ton-plus average from Michael van Gerwen and Danny Noppert as they romped to an 8-2 victory with the aid of some clinical finishing on Saturday night.

Italy, meanwhile, find themselves in a PDC World Cup quarter-final for the first time after wins over USA, Portugal and 2022 champions Australia.

An unforgettable afternoon for Massimo Dalla Rosa and Michele Turetta saw them survive six match darts from Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock en route to sealing a nail-biting 8-7 success.

The opening quarter-final sees former finalists Austria take on a Croatian side entering uncharted territory.

Mensur Suljović and Rowby-John Rodriguez, runners-up in 2021, have safely seen off China, Guyana and Chinese Tapei to progress to the latter stages, but face their first significant test against Tour Card holder Boris Krcmar and Euro Tour qualifier Romeo Grbavac.

The Croatian duo brushed aside Malaysia and Canada in the Group Stage, before sensationally dethroning reigning champions Wales in the Last 16 for the biggest win of their respective careers so far.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with quarter-finals and semi-finals to be contested over the best of 15 legs and the final best of 19 legs.
