Wonderful Wales soar to second World Cup of Darts crown
Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton guided Wales to their second World Cup of Darts title after a commanding 10-2 rout of Scotland in the final.
Price and Clayton hit a combined three maximums and ton-plus finishes as they stormed past Peter Wright and Gary Anderson at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt.
Matching Scotland on two titles, Wales became only the fourth nation to triumph at the team event on multiple occasions – along with England and the Netherlands.
Price and Clayton, who were appearing together for a sixth consecutive year, also became the third pair after to win the tournament more than once, following in the footsteps of Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis (four), and Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld (three).

Wales had required a deciding leg to edge past Belgium’s Dimitri Van den Bergh and Kim Huybrechts in the semi-finals, having been pegged back from 5-3 in front, Clayton clinically taking out 100 in two darts to send them through to their fifth final.
They made a strong start, Price taking out 32 for a 12-darter and early break of throw on the way to a 3-0 lead.
Scotland, seeking a third title in their fifth final, responded with a 15-darter as Anderson – making his first appearance at the event since helping secure their maiden title in 2019 – finished 93 to break back.
The two-time winners, who whitewashed France 8-0 in the quarter-finals earlier on, looked like they might reduce the deficit further.

But Wright, who joined Taylor, Lewis and Van Barneveld with a record-equalling five final appearances, wired double 18 for a 147 checkout and Clayton was clinical on 67 for 4-1.
After Price crashed in a 104 against the throw, the Ferret punished Snakebite and the Flying Scotsman for more missed doubles by pinning tops in successive legs.
The Iceman and Clayton then produced superb back-to-back 116 checkouts on throw – sandwiching a consolatory 12-darter from Scotland – before the latter nailed double eight to secure a comprehensive victory.
