The 2024 Nordic Darts Masters reaches its climax in Copenhagen on Saturday as the final eight face off for the title.
The fourth World Series silverware of the season is up for grabs at Forum Copenhagen as seven PDC stars and one Nordic & Baltic representative go head-to-head.
The opening quarter-final sees last week’s US Masters runner-up Gerwyn Price take on 2022 Nordic Masters champion Dimitri van den Bergh.
Price was narrowly denied glory in New York by Rob Cross in a deciding leg and will be determined to go a step further and secure his first televised singles title since 2022.
The former World Champion hit the ground running with a 102.7 average in a 6-2 defeat of Madars Razma on Friday and now faces Van den Bergh for the second time in a World Series event this year, having prevailed 6-3 when the pair met in the Dutch Masters back in January.
UK Open champion Van den Bergh defeated Price en route to the final of last year’s Poland Masters and began his campaign here with a 6-3 success over Dennis Nilsson in a match which featured nine 180s.
Meanwhile, Premier League stars Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall meet again for a place in the semi-finals.
The most recent fixture between the duo was their decisive Premier League shootout on Night 16 in Sheffield, which Smith won 6-3 to secure his place in the play-offs at the expense of The Asp.
Smith, who was beaten by eventual champion Luke Littler at The O2, then suffered a shock 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Jeff Smith in the US Masters, but returned to winning ways on Friday by seeing off Paavo Myller by the same scoreline with a 102.5 average.
Aspinall, whose maiden World Series title came at the 2019 US Masters in Las Vegas, was runner-up in both the New Zealand Masters and World Series Finals last year.
The World Matchplay champion was edged out in a deciding leg by Luke Humphries in last week’s quarter-finals and looked to be in visible discomfort during his 6-2 win over Finland’s Marko Kantele on Friday.
Humphries remains on the hunt for a first World Series title, and the world number one resumes his quest with a tie against Sweden’s Johan Engstrom.
Humphries, runner-up in the Premier League, is yet to reach the final of a World Series event, but starts out as huge favourite against rank outsider Engstrom in the Last Eight.
The reigning World Champion needed just 11 minutes to whitewash Denmark’s Benjamin Drue Reus with a 100.2 average in Round One, while Engstrom enjoyed a memorable 6-5 scalp of a struggling Peter Wright, having trailed 5-3.
Rob Cross looks to remain in the running for a second successive title as he meets Masters champion Stephen Bunting.
Cross triumphed at Madison Square Garden last weekend to claim his fourth World Series title, and ‘Voltage’ knows what it takes to go back-to-back, having done so in New Zealand and Australia last August.
The 2018 World Champion produced the stand-out performance of the opening round in Copenhagen, averaging 108.2 in a 6-4 victory over Jeffrey De Graaf.
Bunting, meanwhile, marked his first World Series appearance in a decade with a narrow deciding leg win over Daniel Larsson, averaging 21 points fewer than Cross in doing so.
The action gets under way from 6pm BST, with quarter-final matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs, semi-finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
