Mark Webster to take break from broadcasting for medical reasons
Mark Webster is to step back from broadcasting duties for a short period due to a personal medical condition.
The former World Champion, an integral part of Sky Sports’ and ITV’s darts coverage, will be taking a break from his punditry and commentating duties in the coming months.
A statement from MODUS Sports Management released on Wednesday evening read: ‘On behalf of Mark Webster, MODUS Sports Management can confirm that Mark will be taking a short break from his broadcasting duties, due to a personal medical condition.
‘We please ask that you respect Mark’s privacy at this time.’
Webster enjoyed a glittering playing career which notably saw him claim Lakeside glory in 2008 and reach successive PDC World Championship semi-finals at Alexandra Palace in 2010 and 2011.
The Welsh left-hander also reached the final of the World Cup of Darts on two occasions, as well as finishing runner-up at the 2011 Players Championship Finals.
The 42-year-old dropped off the PDC circuit in 2019 amid a battle with dartitis and has gone on to establish himself as one of the sport’s leading TV analysts over the past decade, working across all major competitions, as well as the World Series of Darts.
The Live Darts team would like to wish Mark a speedy recovery.
