Groups A-D draw to a close at the 2025 Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton on Monday with five places in the knockout phase to play for.

Three players have already booked their place in the Last 16 following their opening two fixtures, leaving a host of big names to battle it out for the right to join them.

All four players can still mathematically qualify from Group A, though Luke Humphries finds himself in firm control after registering back-to-back wins.

The world number one, who is defending his title-winning prize money from 2023, followed up a 5-0 whitewash of Alex Spellman on Saturday by sealing a 5-3 win over Michael Smith with a sensational nine-darter on Sunday night.

Humphries now requires just three legs from his tie with Nathan Aspinall in order to reach the knockout phase, while victory would see him advance in top spot.

Aspinall bounced back from a 5-3 defeat to Smith on opening night by seeing off Spellman 5-2, putting him in second spot and with a legs difference of +1 to Smith’s 0.

Smith must therefore better Aspinall’s result when he takes on American debutant Spellman in order to go through, while Spellman requires a whitewash win and for Humphries to whitewash Aspinall if he is to secure a miraculous qualification.

The equation in Group B is significantly more straightforward, with Damon Heta facing Jurjen van der Velde in a straight shootout for qualification.

Heta’s 5-1 rout of Martin Lukeman was undone by a 5-1 defeat to Chris Dobey with an average of just 83 on Sunday, while Dutch youngster Van der Velde battled his way to a 5-4 win over Lukeman with an average of 83.

Eighth seed Dobey is already assured of qualification but will look to clinch the £3,500 group winner’s bonus by condemning 2024 runner-up Lukeman to a third straight defeat.

Group C will also feature a straight shootout between German number one Martin Schindler and PDC Asian Championship finalist Alexis Toylo.

Schindler, who averaged 100.8 in a narrow 5-4 win over Stephen Bunting on Sunday, is bidding to make it out of the group stage for the first time in six Grand Slam appearances.

Toylo, meanwhile, pulled off a shock scalp of Bunting on opening night before surrendering a 2-0 lead to Luke Woodhouse and is vying to become the first Filipino to reach the knock-out phase of this event.

Back-to-back wins for Tour Card Holder qualifier Woodhouse have seen him clinch a knockout berth for the first time with a game to spare, and he aims to wrap up top spot by subjecting the eliminated Bunting to a third straight defeat in what has been a disappointing campaign for the world number four.

The equation is also simple in Group D as Gerwyn Price and Stefan Bellmont face off in a make-or-break battle.

Three-time champion Price recovered from a shock 5-4 defeat to Ricky Evans by whitewashing an out of sorts James Wade and is out to avoid a first group stage exit since 2017.

Challenge Tour winner Bellmont enjoyed a dream debut win over Wade before narrowly going down 5-4 to Evans, but now faces perhaps the biggest match of his career as he looks to pull off another huge upset.

Evans has enjoyed a dream return to the Grand Slam for the first time since 2020 and is now eyeing a clean sweep in the group at the expense of the eliminated Wade.

The action gets under way from 7pm GMT, with Group Stage matches to be contested over the best of nine legs.
