Stowe Buntz secured a debut appearance in the Grand Slam of Darts by claiming the CDC Continental Cup title on Saturday.
American ace Buntz continued his superb run of form as he triumphed in New York City to book a place in next month’s Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.
Buntz began his route to glory with a clinical display in Friday’s opening round, averaging 104 in a 5-2 win over Canada’s Jake Macmillan.
He then wrapped up a commanding 6-2 win over 1994 World Matchplay champion Larry Butler in the Quarter-Finals, before reeling off six consecutive legs from 2-1 down to brush aside Jacob Taylor in the Semi-Finals.
Buntz then overcame Tennessee’s Jason Brandon 8-6 in the final to seal the title and a spot in the £650,000 major from November 11-19.
The colourful star recently secured a debut appearance in this year’s World Championship at Alexandra Palace, having picked up three CDC ProTour titles in 2023.
He has also confirmed his qualification for both the 2024 US Darts Masters and the North American Championship at Madison Square Garden.
Buntz becomes the 21st player to confirm their qualification for the Grand Slam, leaving 11 places up for grabs.
Eight places are on offer at the Tour Card holder qualifier on Friday November 3, alongside the top-ranked non-qualified player from Challenge Tour Order of Merit and two of this season’s Players Championship event winners.
