Live Darts on Sunday | Swiss Darts Trophy 2026 Day Three Preview and Order of Play
The 2026 Swiss Darts Trophy draws reaches its climax on Sunday as the remaining 16 hopefuls battle it out in Basel.
Just six seeds and ten qualifiers remain in the running for the £35,000 top prize at the St. Jakobshalle as they lock horns over two sessions.
The afternoon session plays host to the Last 16 ties, before the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final follow in the evening.
Four players are vying to add to their European Tour title tally this season, including 12th seed Ross Smith – who steps up his quest for a third Euro Tour triumph with a clash against Mensur Suljovic.
World Series Finals champion Smith saw off William O’Connor 6-4 with a 100.7 average in his opener on Saturday, while Suljovic pulled off a fourth consecutive win over a desolate Michael van Gerwen and is now eyeing a first Euro Tour quarter-final spot since 2023.
Newly-crowned World Grand Prix champion Luke Humphries picked up from where he left off in Leicester last Sunday by edging out Kevin Doets in a high quality last-leg decider, and the world number two now takes on European Darts Open winner Krzysztof Ratajski.
Having battled past Dave Chisnall in a last-leg decider on Saturday, Austrian Darts Open champion Josh Rock faces a tough assignment against in-form Karel Sedlacek – who has already seen off Sebastian Bialecki and Wessel Nijman with successive 6-4 triumphs this weekend.
Jonny Clayton, runner-up in March’s Belgian Darts Open, continues his pursuit of a first European Tour title of the season with a clash against Rob Cross – runner-up in June’s Slovak Darts Open.
Clayton produced the stand-out performance of the second round by thrashing Maik Kuivenhoven with a 108.8 average, while Cross was also impressive in dispatching last year’s runner-up Luke Woodhouse 6-4.
Reigning European Champion Gian van Veen aims to follow up Saturday’s emphatic whitewash of Niko Springer when he comes up against Tom Bissell – who fired in six 180s en route to a 6-4 scalp of Martin Schindler.
Former World Champion Michael Smith looks to maintain his magnificent resurgence in Basel when he faces multiple European Tour event finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Smith has shredded the form guide to knock out Rob Owen and Jermaine Wattimena 6-4, notably averaging 102.6 in the latter to close the gap on the European Championship qualification spots to £6,000.
Van Duijvenbode, meanwhile, saw off host nation qualifier Bruno Stöckli 6-3 before surviving four match darts from James Wade to snatch victory in a deciding leg on Saturday.
Damon Heta looks to seal a spot in a fifth European Tour quarter-final of the season at the expense of Spanish number one Cristo Reyes.
Heta has overcome Switzerland’s Alex Fehlmann and eighth seed Danny Noppert en route to this stage, while Reyes came from 3-1 down to defeat Cameron Menzies in his opener before reeling off four legs on the spin to sink Ryan Searle.
Meanwhile, former Players Championship event winners Jeffrey De Graaf and Bradley Brooks collide, with both unseeded hopefuls having enjoyed memorable weekends in Basel.
Brooks began with a 100.7 average in defeating Niels Zonneveld 6-4, before capitalising on a staggering 28 missed darts at doubles from Chris Dobey, while De Graaf dumped out defending champion Stephen Bunting to reach this stage of a European Tour event for the first time in two years.
The action gets under way from 11am BST, with Last 16 and quarter-final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, semi-finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
