The top 16 seeds launch their 2024 International Darts Open campaigns in Riesa on Saturday as the Second Round action takes centre stage.

Day One at the SACHSENarena saw a host of big names fall at the first hurdle, including five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld, two-time World Champion Peter Wright and former European Champion Simon Whitlock.

The 16 highest ranked players from the PDC ProTour Order of Merit enter the fray on Day Two, including reigning and four-time champion Gerwyn Price.

Price has dominated this event in recent years, winning four of the last six stagings, accounting for half of his European Tour titles in total.

Nine-dart hero in the Premier League less than a fortnight ago, Price is bidding to claim his first silverware of the season and starts out against his Ally Pally nemesis Brendan Dolan – who recorded a famous 4-2 win in the Third Round of the World Championship in December.

The evening session also features a showdown between 2018 World Champion Rob Cross, winner of a maiden Euro Tour title last year, and World Youth finalist Gian van Veen – who made it back-to-back wins over his darting idol Raymond van Barneveld as he sealed a 6-3 success on Friday.

World number one Luke Humphries commences his quest for a second successive Euro Tour title and seventh in total when he takes on former Grand Slam champion Jose De Sousa.

Top seed Dave Chisnall, a winner of three Euro Tour events last year, opens up against two-time Lakeside semi-finalist Richard Veenstra – who overcame Andrew Gilding in Round One with a 97.3 average.

German number one Gabriel Clemens pulled off a 6-5 win over Wright in Round One, and the home favourite looks to raise the roof again by denying a resurgent Dirk van Duijvenbode – runner-up in a Players Championship event last month.

Josh Rock aims to continue to the form which led him to the final of Players Championship 7 on Monday as he takes on in-form Cameron Menzies – who averaged 101.2 in a 6-4 win over Simon Whitlock on Friday.

Three-time Euro Tour event winner Joe Cullen takes on home hero Martin Schindler – who enjoyed a terrific run to the semi-finals of the recent German Darts Grand Prix.

German Championship winner Ricardo Pietreczko comes up against ten-time major winner James Wade – who opened up with a 6-3 win over Mike De Decker in Round One.

The afternoon session includes a tie between Ryan Searle – winner of a ProTour event this season – and two-time major champion Daryl Gurney.

Former European Champion Ross Smith starts out against two-time Euro Tour finalist William O’Connor, while fourth seed Damon Heta faces former World Championship quarter-finalist Callan Rydz.

Masters champion Stephen Bunting kicks off with a clash against former Lakeside semi-finalist Michael Unterbuchner – who enjoyed a fine win over Luke Woodhouse on Friday.

Current UK Open champion Dimitri van den Bergh meets 2022 UK Open champion Danny Noppert, while former Masters champion Chris Dobey takes on Polish number one – Krzysztof Ratajski.

A repeat of last year’s World Matchplay final sees Nathan Aspinall looking to get the better of Jonny Clayton once again, having edged out Owen Bates in a deciding leg on Friday night.

Six-time Euro Tour event winner Michael Smith, the number ten seed, takes on Ritchie Edhouse – who thrashed Jitse van der Wal 6-1 in the opening match of the tournament.

The action gets under way from 12pm GMT, with Second Round ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
