International Darts Open 2026 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
The seventh European Tour silverware of the season is up for grabs as the 16 remaining players collide at the International Darts Open in Riesa on Sunday.
Ten seeds and six qualifiers remain in the running for the £35,000 top prize at the Saschen Arena as they battle it out over two sessions.
The afternoon session plays host to the Last 16 ties, before the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final follow in the evening.
Two Dutch stars bidding to claim their first European Tour title go head-to-head in the afternoon’s opener as Gian van Veen faces Kevin Doets.
European Champion Van Veen was runner-up at the Poland Darts Open back in February, while Doets fell agonisingly short against Josh Rock in the final of the Austrian Open a fortnight ago.
James Wade continues his quest to end a decade-long wait for a European Tour title when he takes on European Darts Trophy champion Wessel Nijman – a four-time Players Championship event winner this season.
Ross Smith, runner-up in last month’s European Darts Grand Prix, looks to end the resurgent run of Germany’s Ricardo Pietreczko – who has defied his dartitis woes to defeat Maik Kuivehoven and Danny Noppert en route to this stage.
Michael van Gerwen, who picked up a Players Championship title earlier this month but missed out on the Premier League play-offs, comes up against Damon Heta.
Van Gerwen is vying for a 39th European Tour title and was forced to dig deep to deny Madars Razma in a deciding leg on Saturday, while 15th seed Heta safely overcame Niels Zonneveld 6-2.
Stephen Bunting picked up from where he left off in winning Night 16 of the Premier League on Thursday by defeating Krzysztof Ratajski 6-2 with a 102 average on Saturday, and ‘The Bullet’ now meets former World Champion Rob Cross – who is closing in on the provisional World Matchplay qualification places.
World Championship semi-finalist Ryan Searle takes on a resurgent Kim Huybrechts – who averaged 104.6 in a deciding-leg scalp of Chris Dobey in the Second Round.
Home favourite Martin Schindler steps up his pursuit of a fourth European Tour title with a showdown against enigmatic Scotsman Cameron Menzies – who dumped out Josh Rock 6-4 in the Last 32.
Meanwhile, former European Championship finalist Jermaine Wattimena, twice a runner-up on the ProTour this season, faces former European Tour finalist Ryan Joyce.
The action gets under way from 11am BST, with Last 16 and quarter-final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, semi-finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
