The seeded players begin their European Darts Trophy campaigns in Göttingen on Saturday as the Second Round gets under way.

The opening day of the season’s second European Tour event featured one of the highest averages in European Tour history and one of the greatest comebacks.

The 16 seeds enter the fray in the second round as they bid to get off and running in front of a bumper crowd at the Lokhalle.

The afternoon session includes a showdown between two-time European Tour event winner Rob Cross and three-time finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Cross was elevated into the seeded positions following a number of high-profile withdrawals, while Van Duijvenbode overcame Belgian veteran Mario Vandenbogaerde in the opening round despite an average of 85.8 and no 180s.

Rising Dutch star Wessel Nijman, who has already won a Players Championship event this year, takes on former World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker.

Nijman came from 3-0 down to deny Cristo Reyes in a deciding leg on Friday, while De Decker climbed into the seeded positions following the late withdrawals.

Eighth seed Danny Noppert, quarter-finalist in this year’s World Masters and UK Open, looks to continue his consistent form when he faces crowd favourite Ricky Evans.

Former European Championship finalist Jermaine Wattimena faces Germany’s Lukas Wenig – who saw off Ryan Joyce in Round One.

Former European Champion Ross Smith, a three-time European Tour finalist, faces eight-time Euro Tour winner Dave Chisnall – who pulled off a miraculous comeback from 5-0 down to stun Jeffrey De Zwaan on Friday.

Australian number one Damon Heta faces Lithuanian number one – Darius Labanauskas – who defeated Andrew Gilding in his opener with a 98.2 average.

Chris Dobey continues his search for an elusive maiden European Tour title with a tie against last year’s Swiss Darts Trophy finalist – Luke Woodhouse.

World Championship semi-finalist Ryan Searle starts out against two-time major winner Daryl Gurney – who battled past Sebastian Bialecki in Friday’s opener.

The evening session sees European Champion Gian van Veen look to navigate his way through a tough opening tie against former World Master Krzysztof Ratajski.

Ninth seed Gerwyn Price, a nine-time European Tour event winner, starts out against former Masters champion Joe Cullen in a repeat of their World Championship epic from two years ago.

Josh Rock, semi-finalist in last week’s UK Open, aims to silence the partisan home crowd by overcoming Host Nation qualifier Paul Krohne – who dumped out Cameron Menzies in Round One.

Michael van Gerwen, the most decorated player in European Tour history, marks his first European Tour appearance of 2026 with an all-Dutch affair against dangerous left-hander Niels Zonneveld.

Fifth seed Stephen Bunting, twice a European Tour event winner in 2025, takes on 2025 Hungarian Darts Trophy champion Niko Springer in another stand-out tie.

German number one Martin Schindler, a three-time European Tour event winner, faces former Lakeside semi-finalist Richard Veenstra.

Karel Sedlacek, who benefitted from the late withdrawal of Luke Humphries to move into the seeded positions, starts out against Austrian icon Mensur Suljovic – who saw off Willie O’Connor 6-2 on Friday.

Fresh from registering a top five average in the history of the European Tour (117.12) in his 6-0 whitewash of Jonas Masalin, Kevin Doets aims to continue in that ruthless vein when he meets Cam Crabtree in the final match of the evening.

The action gets under way from 12pm GMT, with second round matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
