The second European Tour silverware of the season is up for grabs at the European Darts Trophy on Sunday as the last 16 go head-to-head in Göttingen.

A £30,000 top prize is on offer at the Lokhalle as eight seeds and eight qualifiers face off over two sessions.

The afternoon session plays host to the Third Round ties, before the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final follow in the evening.

Michael van Gerwen resumes his bid for a third European Darts Trophy title with an all-Dutch clash against Gian van Veen.

Van Gerwen, who won the most recent staging of this event in 2018, defeated Van Veen 8-7 in last year’s Hungarian Darts Trophy final.

The three-time World Champion survived a scare from emerging German star Niko Springer on Saturday as he recovered from 5-3 down to snatch a 6-5 victory, while recent ProTour event winner Van Veen has already seen off Connor Scutt and Josh Rock en route to this stage.

World number one Luke Humphries steps up his pursuit of an eighth European Tour title when he faces 2023 World Champion Michael Smith.

Humphries defied a 102.8 average from Boris Krcmar to see off the Croatian 6-4 with a 101.3 average on Saturday, having lost his last three consecutive Premier League weekly quarter-finals.

Smith, who reached the quarter-finals of the UK Open but has won only two matches on the ProTour this season, overcame a below-par Ricardo Pietreczko 6-2 in his opener with a 94 average.

Gerwyn Price, a winner of two Premier League weekly titles this season, faces a showdown with Dutch sensation Wessel Nijman.

Price, whose last Euro Tour title came in 2023, opened up with a 103.7 average to defeat Ryan Searle 6-4 despite a 105.6 average from his opponent.

Nijman, 24, is bidding to reach only his second European Tour quarter-final following successive deciding leg wins over Paul Krohne and tenth seed Danny Noppert.

The opening match of the afternoon sees World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker take on fellow ProTour event winner Cameron Menzies.

De Decker has continued the form which saw him finish runner-up to Luke Littler at the Belgian Open earlier this month, dispatching Martin Lukeman and Peter Wright so far this weekend.

Menzies, meanwhile, saw off Alan Soutar 6-2 in Round One before holding his nerve to edge out Damon Heta in a deciding leg on Saturday.

Gary Anderson continues his challenge for a third European Tour title when he faces German number one Martin Schindler.

Anderson, who marked his Euro Tour return with a first title in a decade last year, avenged his Belgian Open defeat to Luke Woodhouse by prevailing 6-4 on Saturday.

Schindler, a winner of two Euro Tour titles in 2024, has dropped just three legs in thrashing Adam Hunt and Jonny Clayton to thrill his home crowd.

In-form Jermaine Wattimena looks to pick up from where he left off on Saturday when he comes up against two-time major winner Nathan Aspinall.

Wattimena produced the stand-out performance of the tournament so far by averaging 111 in a 6-4 success over Chris Dobey and is now eyeing a fifth Euro Tour quarter-final.

Aspinall battled past European Champion Ritchie Edhouse in a deciding leg in Round Two and is targeting a first quarter-final appearance on the European Tour for 12 months.

Rob Cross, last year’s Baltic Sea Darts Open champion, faces a Last 16 tie with World Grand Prix semi-finalist Ryan Joyce – who whitewashed Joe Cullen before dispatching Dimitri van den Bergh 6-4.

Fifth seed Dave Chisnall takes on Ross Smith in a repeat of last year’s European Darts Open final which saw ‘Chizzy’ triumph 8-6 in Leverkusen.

The action gets under way from 12pm GMT, with Third Round and Quarter-Final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
