European Darts Grand Prix 2025 | Day Two Preview and Order of Play
The seeded stars launch their European Darts Grand Prix campaigns on Saturday as the Second Round takes centre stage in Sindelfingen.
Day One of the season’s sixth European Tour event saw the likes of Ryan Searle, Ritchie Edhouse and Jermaine Wattimena among the notable names to suffer early exits.
The Order of Merit seeds take to the Glaspalast stage on Day Two as they aim to safely progress to Sunday’s Last 16.
Reigning champion Gary Anderson returns to European Tour action for the first time since March as he launches his title defence with a showdown against World Youth champion Gian van Veen.
Anderson’s triumph here last year marked his first European Tour silverware since 2014, and his most recent outing on the Euro Tour saw him reach the semi-finals of the European Darts Trophy in March.
Van Veen was runner-up in the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich a fortnight ago and will be out to avenge his 16-14 defeat to Anderson in the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam last November.
The afternoon session also sees former World Champion Rob Cross, a European Tour event winner last season, take on reigning World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker – who knocked out home favourite Max Hopp 6-4 on Friday.
Premier League star Chris Dobey resumes his bid for an elusive maiden European Tour title when he takes on European Championship semi-finalist Luke Woodhouse.
Danny Noppert, twice a Euro Tour finalist in 2022, looks to register only his second win on the Euro Tour this season when he meets fellow Dutch star Wessel Nijman.
Former World Champion Michael Smith faces another crucial weekend in his quest to qualify for the World Matchplay, and ‘Bully Boy’ starts out against Host Nation qualifier Daniel Klose – who pulled off a shock win over Wattimena on opening night.
Ninth seed Dave Chisnall, an eight-time European Tour event winner, takes on Ross Smith – runner-up in last weekend’s Austrian Darts Open.
Nathan Aspinall, who clinched his first Euro Tour title in Gottingen back in March, opens up against in-form Niels Zonneveld – who thrashed Searle 6-1 in the first round and is firmly in the hunt for a World Matchplay spot.
Sixth seed Damon Heta, who has reached just one Euro Tour quarter-final this year, faces a tough opener against 2024 Grand Slam finalist Martin Lukeman.
The evening session sees world number one Luke Humphries mark his return to Euro Tour action with a tie against Connor Scutt – who defeated Edhouse on Friday to register his first win on the Euro Tour at the seventh time of asking.
Stephen Bunting, last month’s International Open champion, starts out against multiple ProTour event winner Cameron Menzies in the final match of the night.
Home hero Martin Schindler, last week’s Austrian Open champion, looks to continue his blistering run of form on the European Tour when he comes up against 15th seed Josh Rock in a repeat of their semi-final in Graz – which the German narrowly edged in a deciding leg.
German Darts Grand Prix winner Michael van Gerwen, who finished runner-up to Luke Littler on Night 13 of the Premier League on Thursday, takes on fellow Dutch star Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Jonny Clayton, winner of a ProTour event last month, opens up against former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding – who held off Gabriel Clemens in a deciding leg on Friday with a 100.5 average.
Eleventh seed Gerwyn Price, a three-time ProTour event winner this season, takes on five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld in a repeat of their encounter at this stage of the recent German Grand Prix – which the Welshman won 6-3.
UK open runner-up James Wade takes on three-time Euro Tour event winner Joe Cullen, while nine-time European Tour event winner Peter Wright faces home hopeful Leon Weber – who enjoyed a 6-3 scalp of Ryan Joyce in round one.
The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Second Round ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
