The 2024 Dutch Darts Masters reaches its climax on Saturday as the eight remaining hopefuls compete for the title in Den Bosch.
Day One of the season’s second World Series event saw five Dutch stars seal a Quarter-Final spot at Maaspoort Den Bosch, with three PDC representatives crashing out.
The tournament draws to a fascinating conclusion on Saturday with the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final to be held in one unmissable session.
Kicking off the night’s action is a re-run of the World Championship final between Luke Humphries and Luke Littler.
An historic occasion at Alexandra Palace 24 days ago saw Humphries recover from 4-2 down to defeat Littler 7-4 and become World Champion for the first time.
Littler was left to rue a pivotal missed dart at double two to lead 5-2, with the teenage sensation falling narrowly short of becoming the sport’s youngest ever World Champion.
The pair will face off again on the opening night of the Premier League in Cardiff on Thursday, with this set to be a dress rehearsal over the same format.
Humphries saw his 20-match unbeaten run brought to an end by Gerwyn Price in the Quarter-Finals in Bahrain but returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion by whitewashing Jermaine Wattimena on Friday.
Littler made more history by claiming the Bahrain Masters title on his World Series debut, becoming the youngest winner of a senior PDC title just two days before his 17th birthday, and landing a first televised nine-darter in the process.
The World Youth champion picked up from where he left off little over a week ago by thrashing home favourite Dirk van Duijvenbode 6-2 with the aid of a 150 checkout in Round One.
A battle of two Dutch legends on home soil sees three-time World Champion Michael van Gerwen take on five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld.
The duo met in the final of the inaugural World Series event in Dubai back in 2013 and have contested a number of iconic encounters since, with MVG boasting a dominant head-to-head record.
Premier League champion Van Gerwen was denied a 20th World Series title by Littler in the recent Bahrain Masters final and began his quest for glory less than 10 miles from his hometown with a 6-1 rout of Vincent van der Voort.
Van Barneveld, who enjoyed a resurgent run to the Last 16 of the recent World Championship, is making his 39th World Series appearance and punished a disaster on the doubles from Rob Cross to snatch a 6-5 victory on opening night.
Meanwhile, three-time World Series event winner Gerwyn Price faces a showdown with in-form Dutchman Kevin Doets.
Price, who was beaten 7-3 by Littler in the Semi-Finals in Bahrain, began his campaign here with an impressive 6-3 defeat of defending champion Dimitri van den Bergh, averaging 103.4.
The Welshman was runner-up in two World Series events last season and is seeking his first televised singles title since the World Series Finals in September 2022.
Doets marked a dream World Series debut with a 6-2 rout of a struggling Peter Wright, averaging 98.3 with six 180s along the way.
His opening night win over Stowe Buntz at Ally Pally was enough to retain his Tour Card, with Michael Smith eventually denying the 25-year-old in a deciding set later in the evening.
Gian van Veen, who pulled off a terrific scalp of Smith on Friday, returns to take on fellow Dutchman Danny Noppert.
Van Veen reached the Semi-Finals of the European Championship last October and racked up six Development Tour titles, and he enjoyed a memorable World Series debut in front of his home crowd last night.
World number seven Noppert was a comfortable 6-2 winner over Nathan Aspinall in Round One and is out to equal his run to the final of the World Series Finals in Amsterdam in 2019.
The action gets under way from 6pm GMT (7pm local time), with Quarter-Final matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
