Australian Darts Masters 2025 | Day Two Preview and Order of Play
The 2025 Australian Darts Masters reaches its climax in Wollongong on Saturday as the final eight battle it out for the title.
The opening night saw all eight PDC stars safely progress at the expense of Oceanic opposition, with four of those winners registering ton-plus averages.
Day Two of the season’s sixth World Series event plays host to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in one unmissable session at the WIN Entertainment Centre.
Reigning champion Gerwyn Price resumes the defence of his title with a clash against fellow Premier League star Chris Dobey.
The pair met in the Second Round of the World Matchplay in Blackpool last month, where Price prevailed 11-3 in a dominant display which saw him average 108.7.
The Welshman is bidding to make it back-to-back World Series triumphs following on from his Poland Masters success a month ago and got off and running with a 6-3 win over Joe Comito on Friday with a 100.5 average.
Dobey, meanwhile, marked his debut Down Under with a battling 6-4 win over Tim Pusey, reeling off four consecutive legs from 4-2 down to avoid an unwanted upset.
World Champion Luke Littler continues his pursuit of a maiden World Series title in 2025 when he faces home hero Damon Heta.
Littler made yet more history by becoming the youngest ever World Matchplay champion less than a fortnight ago, landing a nine-darter en route to glory at the Winter Gardens.
The 18-year-old, who is closing in on the world number one spot for the first time, is yet to reach a World Series event final this year and was forced to dig deep to deny New Zealand’s Haupai Puha in a deciding leg on Friday.
In contrast, Heta romped into the quarter-finals courtesy of a 6-0 whitewash of Aussie compatriot James Bailey, averaging just shy of 110 and converting four ton-plus checkouts along the way.
Semi-finalist at the US Masters and a winner of two Players Championship titles this year, Heta will be out to raise the roof in front of a partisan sell-out crowd in Wollongong.
A repeat of last October’s World Grand Prix final sees world number one Luke Humphries take on Belgian number one Mike De Decker.
De Decker famously came out on top on that occasion to secure his first major ranking title and has earned his first World Series call-up as a result.
However, it proved to be a cagey first outing Down Under for De Decker – who averaged just 80.3 in a 6-2 win over Brandon Weening in Round One.
Humphries triumphed at the US Darts Masters in New York in June to double his World Series tally following last year’s New Zealand Masters success.
The reigning World Masters and Premier League champion returned to action for the first time since his first round exit to Gian van Veen at the World Matchplay by recovering from 2-0 down to defeat New Zealand’s Jonny Tata 6-3 on Friday.
The opening quarter-final tie sees top seed Stephen Bunting take on World Series debutant Josh Rock.
World number four Bunting has picked up two World Series titles in a superb campaign this year, in addition to reaching a further two finals.
The Bahrain Masters and Nordic Masters champion has reached the final in four of his five World Series outings this year, with the only blemish coming at the US Masters – where he suffered a shock first round defeat to Jason Brandon.
Rock, who partnered Daryl Gurney to World Cup glory for Northern Ireland, continued his blistering run of form by reaching the semi-finals of the recent World Matchplay, eventually losing out to Littler 17-14 in an epic contest despite an average of 104.
Now ranked world number 11, Rock is vying for silverware at the first time of asking on the World Series, having opened up with a magnificent 108 average in a 6-1 rout of Simon Whitlock in Round One.
The action gets under way from 10am BST, with Quarter-Final matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
