Defiant Fallon Sherrock tops Modus Icons of Darts table

Fallon Sherrock silenced the social media trolls by finishing top of the Modus Icons of Darts Live League table on Friday.

Less than 24 hours earlier, Sherrock had been the target of vile online abuse and threats, sharing a screenshot of the messages and tweeting: “All I did was not win a game of darts, this is so wrong.”

However, she responded in superb fashion on the oche, topping the table with four wins from her five matches in the ‘at home’ live streamed event.

“Wow. Very, very happy. Thank you to everyone who offered their kind words over the past 24 hours, these messages and winning today have made me very happy,” she tweeted.

History-maker Sherrock, who reached the Last 32 of the PDC World Championship, began the day with a 5-2 victory over Scott Marsh, averaging 92 and converting five of her eight attempts at doubles.

She then returned to whitewash Dave Parletti 5-0 with a 98.8 average, a 107 checkout and the same clinical doubles percentage.

The 25-year-old followed that up with a comfortable 5-2 success over David Evans with three 180s, before registering her second win of the week over three-time World Champion Martin Adams.

Sherrock edged past the BDO stalwart in a last-leg decider courtesy of a 14-darter, but a 5-2 defeat to Boris Koltsov in her final match left her with a nervy wait on other results.

Koltsov mounted his charge with wins over Parletti, Marsh and Sherrock but squandered a 4-3 lead in a deciding leg defeat to Evans.

That left the Russian needing to win his final match either 5-1 or 5-0 against Adams, and he moved within touching distancing by racing into a 4-1 lead.

Adams, however, took the sixth leg to end the Russian’s hopes to snatching top spot, though he did go on to clinch victory in the following leg.

The day also saw Parletti and Evans each produce a show-piece 170 checkout.

The Modus Icons of Darts Live League continues on Saturday with Scott Mitchell, Paul Nicholson, Mark Webster, Stephen Burton, Andy Jenkins and John Brown returning to action.
