The seeded players get their German Darts Grand Prix campaigns under way in Munich on Sunday as the Second Round takes centre stage.

The opening day of the season’s fourth European Tour event saw European Darts Trophy winner Wessel Nijman bow out alongside the likes of Joe Cullen, Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld.

The 16 seeds enter the fray in Round Two as they bid to get off and running in front of a packed crowd at the Zenith.

The afternoon session features a clash between eight-time European Tour event winner Dave Chisnall and six-time European Tour event winner Michael Smith.

A resurgent Chisnall heads to Munich as the number 15 seed, having benefitted from the quartet of late withdrawals, while Smith punished an average of just 76 from James Hurrell to seal a 6-2 victory in Saturday’s opening round.

Former UK Open champion Danny Noppert launches his latest quest for a maiden European Tour title with a tie against former European Champion Ritchie Edhouse.

World Championship semi-finalist Ryan Searle takes on Polish talisman Krzysztof Ratajski – who reached the quarter-finals at Ally Pally in January.

Two former European Tour finalists go head-to-head as Belgian number one Mike De Decker faces popular Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Two-time major champion Daryl Gurney meets former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding – who knocked out Nijman in Saturday’s first round.

An all-Dutch affair sees two-time ProTour event winner Jermaine Wattimena face in-form left-hander Niels Zonneveld – who has made it to back-to-back European Tour semi-finals.

Damon Heta looks to kick-start what has been a disappointing season so far when he comes up against Czech number one Karel Sedlacek – who saw off Menzies in Round One.

Former European Champion Ross Smith also aims to give his below-par season to date a shot in the arm by overcoming Hungary’s Patrik Kovacs – who pulled off a shock scalp of Cullen to earn his first European Tour victory.

The evening session includes a showdown between Michael van Gerwen – the most decorated player in European Tour history – and last year’s Hungarian Darts Trophy winner Niko Springer.

Host nation qualifier Marcel Hausotter pulled off a huge upset to dump out Van Barneveld on Saturday, and the home favourite is rewarded with a tie against multiple major champion Jonny Clayton.

German number one Martin Schindler looks to delight his home crowd by dispatching former World Grand Prix finalist Brendan Dolan – who battled past Norway’s Cor Dekker in a deciding leg on Saturday.

Nathan Aspinall, a three-time European Tour event winner last season, faces former European Tour event winner Ricardo Pietreczko in a repeat of their Last 16 clash at the World Championship two years ago.

European Champion Gian van Veen, who returned to form by defeating Luke Littler en route to Thursday’s Premier League Night Nine final in Manchester, starts his campaign in Munich against Irish stalwart William O’Connor – who saw off Sebastian Bialecki with a 170 checkout along the way.

Recent UK Open finalist James Wade comes up against another in-form darter in Kevin Doets – who netted the Big Fish in his 6-0 whitewash of Sweden’s Anton Ostlund on Saturday.

Josh Rock, who picked up his second Premier League win on Thursday night, returns to action to face former European Tour finalist Ryan Joyce.

Last year’s Swiss Darts Trophy finalist Luke Woodhouse opens up with a tie against Belgian ace Kim Huybrechts – who saw off Peter Wright in Round One.

The action gets under way from 12pm GMT, with second round matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
