The Semi-Finals take centre stage at the WDF World Championship on Saturday as a host of rising stars look to keep their Lakeside title dreams alive.

A blockbuster double session features the semi-finals from the men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ competitions as the remaining hopefuls vie for a date with destiny on Sunday.

The opening men’s semi-final could ordinarily be mistaken for a youth tie as emerging sensations Mitchell Lawrie and Jenson Walker go head-to-head.

With a combined age of just 34, this represents the youngest semi-final in Lakeside history as both players aim to remain on course for the £50,000 top prize.

Lawrie, who made history by eclipsing Luke Littler’s record as the youngest-ever participant in the men’s event at Lakeside, has exploded onto the famous stage in fairy-tale fashion.

A month on from his 15th birthday, the Scottish sensation has stormed into the semis without dropping a set, averaging above 90 for the tournament.

Lawrie announced his arrival by landing a 10-darter and a brace of 145 checkouts in a straight sets rout of Tomoya Maruyama in his opening match, before averaging 97 in thrashing second seed Jason Brandon.

He then powered past Jeff Springer Jr in three unanswered sets, before going on to whitewash Belgium’s Francois Schweyen 4-0 on Friday.

Lawrie will take the stage twice in the same day, returning in the evening session to take on England’s Kaya Baysal in the boys’ semi-final.

Walker, meanwhile, has dispatched vastly experienced opposition in Jiří Brejcha, David Fatum, Raymond Smith and Ben Robb en route to this stage.

The second men’s semi-final sees number one seed Jimmy van Schie take on Belgium’s Sybrel Gijbels.

Dutch giant Van Schie blitzed past Alex Williams in straight sets in Round Two before averaging 95.8 in an impressive 3-1 win over former PDC Tour Card holder Paul Krohne.

The reigning World Masters champion then recovered from a set down to reel off four in a row and dethrone defending champion Shane McGuirk on Friday night with a 97.4 average.

Gijbels has taken full advantage of his call-up as a reserve qualifier, eclipsing last year’s run to the Last 16 by overcoming Kevin Luke, Marcus Maier, Benjamin Pratnemer and James Beeton.

The opening women’s semi-final sees the unseeded Priscilla Steenbergen take on third seed Deta Hedman.

Steenbergen is appearing at this stage of the competition for the first time, following wins over Nina Lech-Musialska, Tracy Feiertag and second seed Lorraine Hyde for the combined loss of just one set.

Lakeside stalwart Hedman came from a set down to edge out two-time champion Mikuru Suzuki before dispatching last year’s runner-up Sophie McKinlay 3-0, and the 66-year-old is now bidding to reach a fourth women’s world final.

Top seed Lerena Rietbergen then takes on title favourite Rhian O’Sullivan later in the evening.

Rietbergen battled past Aletta Wajer in a deciding set in her opener before powering past Eve Watson in three straight sets on Friday.

O’Sullivan, runner-up here in 2010 and 2011, swept aside Jitka Císařová in successive sets before overcoming Canada’s Maria Carli 3-1.

The action gets under way from 12pm GMT, with men’s semi-finals to be contested over the best of nine sets and women’s semi-finals to be contested over the best of five sets.
