The final eight face off at the World Grand Prix in Leicester as the quarter-finals take centre stage on Friday night.

Four of the top eight seeds remain standing in the unique double-start tournament, alongside a former World Champion, a former major winner and two unseeded hopefuls.

An unmissable quarter-final line-up includes a box office clash between reigning World Champion Luke Littler and former World Grand Prix champion Gerwyn Price.

Littler is bidding to add this title to his ever-growing career haul which also includes the World Championship, World Matchplay, Premier League, UK Open and Grand Slam.

The world number two atoned for last year’s early exit by defying a tournament record average of 106.47 from Gian van Veen to prevail in straight sets with a 105.6 average of his own in a match lasting little over ten minutes.

He then dismantled defending champion Mike De Decker in three unanswered sets to remain on course for an 11th PDC major final.

The 18-year-old now faces his former nemesis Price in a repeat of their Premier League play-off clash back in May, which Littler won 10-7 before going on to finish runner-up.

Price boasts a prolific record in this competition, having reached at least the semi-final stage in four of his last five World Grand Prix appearances.

Champion behind closed doors five years ago and runner-up in 2021 and 2023, the Welshman also recovered from a set down to deny Ryan Searle in his opener, before blitzing a below-par Josh Rock in three straight sets on Thursday.

Meanwhile, world number one Luke Humphries faces a showdown with maverick Scotsman Cameron Menzies.

Humphries is bidding to reach a third consecutive World Grand Prix final, having famously triumphed in 2023 before losing out to De Decker 12 months ago.

World Masters and Premier League champion this year, Humphries made light work of 2022 finalist Nathan Aspinall in the opening round, before dispatching Krzysztof Ratajski 3-1 in the Last 16 to remain in contention for an eighth televised ranking title.

Menzies is making only his second appearance in a major ranking quarter-final, having initially done so at the Grand Slam last November, and the 36-year-old is now vying to break new ground.

Menzies swept aside Chris Dobey in successive sets to kick-start his run, before overcoming former World Champion Rob Cross 3-1 in the Last 16.

The opening match of the night sees two-time World Champion Gary Anderson take on former UK Open champion Danny Noppert.

Anderson finished runner-up in this event in Dublin back in 2016 and is appearing in the quarter-finals for the first time in five years.

The 54-year-old battled past fellow veteran Raymond van Barneveld in a tense last-leg shootout, before thrashing a struggling Joe Cullen 3-0 to reach the Last Eight of a televised ranking tournament for the first time this year.

Noppert is out to equal his run to the semi-finals here in 2021, having edged out Jermaine Wattimena in a last-leg decider before knocking out fourth seed Stephen Bunting 3-1 with nine 180s to his name.

Jonny Clayton, the 2021 World Grand Prix champion, comes up against 2020 finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Clayton has enjoyed a fine season in front of the TV cameras, finishing runner-up at the World Masters and World Cup and reaching the semi-finals of both the UK Open and World Matchplay.

Dutch Darts Championship winner and a ProTour event winner in Rosmalen, the Welshman cruised past Andrew Gilding in straight sets to get off and running, before seeing off Luke Woodhouse 3-1 to reach a fourth consecutive major ranking quarter-final this year.

Van Duijvenbode’s first major final to date came at this event behind closed doors, losing out to Price, but he had failed to win a match in three subsequent appearances prior to Tuesday’s commanding straight sets win over six-time champion Michael van Gerwen.

The power-scoring Dutchman then thrashed Daryl Gurney 3-0 with a 96.4 on Thursday to reach his first major quarter-final of 2025.

The action gets under way from 7pm BST, with quarter-final matches to be contested over the best of five sets.

All sets are the best of five legs and there will be no tie break in any set. All legs must begin and end with a double, meaning that a player must hit a double before they can begin scoring in each leg.
