World Series of Darts Finals 2025 | Day Three Preview and Order of Play
The 2025 World Series of Darts Finals draws to a close in Amsterdam on Sunday as the final eight face off for the title.
An £80,000 top prize is up for grabs at a sold-out AFAS Live as five of the world’s top eight and a trio of decorated stars battle it out for glory over two sessions.
The afternoon session plays host to the quarter-final ties, before the semi-finals and final take centre stage in the evening.
The stand-out quarter-final sees world number one Luke Humphries take on five-time World Series Finals champion Michael van Gerwen.
Humphries picked up from where he left off in winning the Czech Open in Prague last Sunday by edging out James Wade in a decider after surviving two match darts, before averaging 101.8 and landing seven 180s in a 6-4 win over Kevin Doets in Round Two.
The 2024 World Champion now faces another huge home favourite as he bids to remain in the running for a first World Series Finals crown.
Van Gerwen produced a stellar display to edge out compatriot Wessel Nijman in a deciding leg with a 104.7 average on Friday, before landing back-to-back checkouts of 122 and 111 to snatch victory over Rob Cross by the same scoreline on Saturday.
Van Gerwen is the last Dutchman standing in the competition and will look to feed off the partisan support in his quest for a first major title since this event two years ago.
Meanwhile, reigning champion Luke Littler continues the defence of his title with a showdown against world number 13 Ross Smith.
Littler stormed to glory on his debut here 12 months ago and returns in a blistering vein of form, having claimed the World Matchplay, Australian Masters, New Zealand Masters and Flanders Darts Trophy titles within the last two months.
The 18-year-old battled past a resilient Simon Whitlock 6-4 in his opener before recovering from 3-0 down to defeat Jonny Clayton by the same scoreline in the Last 16.
Former European Champion Smith also recovered from a slow start to see off New Zealand’s Jonny Tata in Round One before averaging 99.3 in overcoming Dave Chisnall with the aid of five 180s on Saturday evening.
The opening match of the afternoon sees World Cup of Darts winner Josh Rock take on World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker.
Rock, runner-up in successive European Tour events, took out 121 on the bull to seal victory over Krzysztof Ratajski on Friday and went on to whitewash 2019 finalist Danny Noppert with a 107.4 average and seven maximums.
De Decker, runner-up in last month’s Australian Masters, followed up his 6-3 success over Gabriel Clemens with a 6-4 win over world number ten Damon Heta to continue his impressive debut run.
Gerwyn Price, the 2020 and 2022 champion, resumes his pursuit of a hat-trick of World Series Finals titles with a tie against World Championship semi-finalist Chris Dobey.
Price picked up his sixth World Series title at the Poland Masters in July and enjoyed a superb ProTour campaign in midweek, winning Players Championship 26 before finishing runner-up 24 hours later.
The Welshman began his campaign in Amsterdam by thrashing Danny Lauby 6-1, before battling back from 3-1 down to deny home hero Raymond van Barneveld with five of the last six legs on Saturday.
Dobey – who reached his first World Series semi-final this year – dispatched Luke Woodhouse 6-2 in his opener, before punishing a disastrous display from Cameron Menzies to prevail 6-1 despite missing a staggering 28 darts at doubles.
The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with quarter-final ties to be contested over the best of 19 legs and semi-finals and the final best of 21 legs.
