Luke Littler starts the new season as world number one and back-to-back World Champion; we look at when the teenager is back in action.

The 19-year-old joined Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis as only the fourth player to retain the PDC world title and capped off an extraordinary year of dominance by triumphing at Alexandra Palace in January.

Littler added a staggering six major ranking titles to his haul in 2025, including the UK Open, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, Grand Slam and Players Championship Finals.

In doing so, he has leapfrogged rival Luke Humphries to become the new world number one and emphatically retained the Sid Waddell Trophy to become the sport’s first single tournament millionaire.

Upcoming Match Details

Littler affirmed his position as darts’ dominant force by thrashing Gian van Veen 7-1 in the most one-sided PDC World Championship final since Phil Taylor defeated Raymond van Barneveld by the same scoreline in 2009.

He returned to televised action just 12 days later at the Bahrain Darts Masters – where his 83-day unbeaten run in all competitions was brought to an end by Gerwyn Price in the quarter-finals.

Normal service was quickly resumed a matter of days later as Littler become the inaugural Saudi Arabia Darts Masters champion courtesy of an 8-5 victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

The Nuke then continued his remarkable spree of major ranking titles by capturing the Winmau World Masters crown for the first time courtesy of an enthralling deciding-set victory over his great rival Luke Humphries in the final, leaving only the European Championship for a clean sweep inside three seasons.

Having sensationally retained the UK Open title in Minehead earlier this month, Littler’s primary focus reverts back to the Premier League – where he heads to London for Finals Night.

Littler’s next match sees him come up against Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals at the O2 Arena from 7pm BST on Thursday May 28.

Form and Recent Performances

Littler has now won eight of the last nine major ranking tournaments, with only the European Championship missing from his collection.

The teenage phenomenon followed up his second World Championship triumph by claiming the Winmau World Masters title for the first time, and has gone on to emphatically retain the UK Open title in Minehead.

While his Premier League campaign got off to a bumpy start, Littler opened his account with a first night title in Cardiff last month.

That was swiftly followed by a second weekly title in Dublin which culminated in a remarkable comeback from 5-0 down to stun Gerwyn Price 6-5 in the final, before claiming glory in Berlin to go back-to-back and move top of the table.

Littler was ultimately denied a hat-trick of weekly titles by Gian van Veen after a dramatic 6-5 defeat in a feisty quarter-final encounter on home soil in Manchester which saw the Englishman miss match darts during an ill-tempered ending.

He was then greeted by loud booing on Night 10 in Brighton and went on to register his lowest-ever televised average of 83.94 in a 6-4 defeat to Stephen Bunting, before losing out to Jonny Clayton in the Night 11 final in Rotterdam.

Littler did, however, silence the boo boys in Liverpool by going on to claim his fourth weekly title of the season, before adding a fifth in Aberdeen and a sixth in Leeds to equal last year’s record.

How Littler matches up against his next opponent

Littler, who triumphed on debut in 2024 before finishing runner-up last year, is aiming to become only the fourth multiple champion in Premier League history.

The world number one racked up six nightly titles throughout the campaign, securing top spot by a nine-point margin, and is yet to lose a knockout match in a televised major in 2026.

The 19-year-old is chasing down a sixth consecutive major title stretching back to last November’s Grand Slam, and what would be a 13th in total.

Incredibly, Littler is yet to lose a major semi-final, having won all 16 of his previous appearances, and comes into his showdown against Price on the back of eight consecutive head-to-head wins.

Price will be out to reverse the trend, having lost 15 of his last 16 against ‘The Nuke’ in all competitions, and the Welshman is the only player of the final four yet to lift this trophy.

Runner-up in 2023, Price is making his third play-off appearance inside four years and picked up nightly titles in Week Two in Antwerp and Week Nine in Manchester.

What to watch out for in this match

  • Littler boasts a tournament average of 99.9 to Price’s 98.5
  • Littler has hit 121 maximums to Price’s 82 in the tournament so far
  • Littler has won 15 of his last 16 meetings with Price across all competitions
