Belgian Darts Open 2025 | Day Two Preview and Order of Play
The seeded stars take to the stage at the 2025 Belgian Darts Open on Saturday as the Second Round commences in Wieze.
Day One of the season’s opening European Tour event saw ProTour event winners Josh Rock and Cameron Menzies crash out in Round One, as well as all four Host Nation qualifiers.
This tournament is the first to incorporate the controversial new Euro Tour qualifying criteria which sees the top 16 players from the main Order of Merit seeded in the draw as opposed to the top 16 from the ProTour Order of Merit.
The afternoon session sees world number 15 Gary Anderson start out against European Championship semi-finalist Luke Woodhouse.
Anderson claimed his first European Tour title since 2014 at the European Darts Grand Prix last year in one of only two appearances on the Euro Tour in 2024.
Woodhouse, twice a European Tour quarter-finalist last season, got his campaign under way with a hard-fought 6-4 win over Host Nation hopeful Cedric Waegemans.
Dave Chisnall, the 2024 Flanders Darts Trophy winner in Antwerp, returns to Belgium to face former German Championship winner Ricardo Pietreczko.
Jonny Clayton, runner-up in last year’s Dutch Championship, as well as the Winmau World Masters last month, faces a formidable opener against ProTour event winner Wessel Nijman.
Dutch Masters champion Rob Cross, who landed a nine-darter in the Premier League in Brighton on Thursday night, looks to continue his superb form when he faces former European Champion Ross Smith – who landed two 180s in the deciding leg of his 6-5 win over Sybren Gijbels on Friday.
The opening match of the afternoon sees former UK Open champion Danny Noppert face two-time major winner Daryl Gurney, while world number seven Damon Heta and 2023 World Champion Michael Smith collide in another tasty showdown.
Nathan Aspinall, runner-up on Night Five of the Premier League less than 48 hours ago, takes on reigning European Champion Ritchie Edhouse – who is looking to ignite his season after a slow start.
Bahrain Masters champion Stephen Bunting, who slipped to a fifth straight defeat in the Premier League in midweek, looks to return to winning ways when he faces European Championship finalist Jermaine Wattimena.
The evening session sees reigning champion Luke Littler launch the defence of his title against 2024 Swiss Trophy finalist – Ryan Searle.
Littler romped to his first European Tour title with the aid of a nine-darter here 12 months ago before adding the Austrian Open trophy to his collection, and he has more recently been crowned UK Open champion and won Night Five of the Premier League within the last six days.
World number one Luke Humphries, who hit a nine-darter in defeat to Cross in the Premier League on Thursday, starts his bid for an eighth Euro Tour title with a tie against Mike De Decker, marking a repeat of the World Grand Prix final.
De Decker, who prevailed on that occasion last October to claim his first major title, has struggled for form since, and had to survive match darts from Thomas Lovely on Friday before scraping through in a deciding leg with an 86 average.
Michael van Gerwen, winner of last year’s Hungarian Darts Trophy and the most decorated player in Euro Tour history, opens up against Croatia’s Boris Krcmar – who dumped out Josh Rock 6-3 in Round One.
Peter Wright, last year’s German Championship winner, begins his latest Euro Tour campaign with a clash against Canadian number one Matt Campbell – who survived a match dart from Menzies on Friday before prevailing 6-5.
Gerwyn Price, who celebrated his 40th birthday on Friday, looks to mark the start of a new chapter by overcoming World Youth champion Gian van Veen.
James Wade, runner-up in the UK Open last Sunday, takes on five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld for what will be their 56th competitive meeting.
Dimitri Van den Bergh, who saw his UK Open title defence ended by Michael Smith with an average of just 70, looks to resume normal service when he comes up against Martin Schindler – twice a Euro Tour event winner in 2024.
Premier League star Chris Dobey kicks off his latest quest for an elusive maiden European Tour title with a tie against Dirk van Duijvenbode – twice a Euro Tour finalist in 2023.
The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Second Round ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
