A bumper double session at the World Series Finals on Saturday features the conclusion of the First Round ties, before the big names collide in Round Two.

The opening night in Amsterdam saw PDC invites Dimitri van den Bergh and Stephen Bunting bow out, while a trio of Dutchmen delighted their home crowd at the AFAS Live.

With the field having been expanded to 32 players this year, an additional session now takes place on Saturday afternoon, featuring First Round ties from the bottom half of the draw.

The winners will then return to contest their Last 16 tie in the evening session alongside last night’s winners.

The two most recent European Tour event winners collide in one of the stand-out fixtures of the afternoon as Peter Wright faces Dave Chisnall.

The duo met in the Quarter-Finals of last week’s Flanders Darts Trophy, with Chisnall narrowly prevailing 6-5 on his way to clinching the title.

Gerwyn Price, the 2020 and 2022 World Series Finals champion, is tasked with a tough opener against in-form Cameron Menzies – who reached the final of a Players Championship event last month before coming through the Tour Card holder qualifier to earn a spot in this event.

Rob Cross, who claimed the US Masters title in New York earlier this summer, opens up against former world finalist Simon Whitlock.

Two-time major champion Daryl Gurney aims to silence the partisan Dutch crowd by denying home hero Dirk van Duijvenbode – who has enjoyed a welcome return to form in recent months after his injury nightmare.

Dutch youngster Wessel Nijman, runner-up in a Players Championship event in July, takes on former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding – who replaces Nathan Aspinall in the event after The Asp withdrew through injury.

Former World Champion Michael Smith, the 2018 runner-up, starts out against former Grand Slam champion Jose De Sousa.

Former UK Open semi-finalist Keane Barry meets Dutch star Kevin Doets in the opening match of the afternoon, before former US Masters finalist Jeff Smith faces TV debutant Rhys Griffin of Wales.

The evening session commences with a clash between former Masters champion Chris Dobey and Croatian star Boris Krcmar – who celebrated his 45th birthday last night by dumping out Bunting 6-4.

Undoubtedly the pick of the night’s fixtures features a clash of the generations between five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld and 17-year-old sensation Luke Littler.

Littler famously defeated his darting idol in the World Championship last December during his incredible run to the final and this will be their first televised meeting since.

Littler has gone on to claim the Premier League title, as well as two World Series titles and two European Tour titles this year, climbing above Barney in the Order of Merit.

The pair had contrasting opening ties on Friday, with crowd favourite Van Barneveld whitewashing Johan Engstrom, while Littler survived two match darts from Ross Smith as he snatched a 6-5 win with a 103.3 average.

A repeat of last month’s New Zealand Masters final sees Damon Heta bidding for revenge over world number one Luke Humphries.

Humphries sealed his first World Series title courtesy of a crushing 8-2 success over the Australian in Hamilton, and the reigning World Champion is now seeking his eighth televised triumph inside 12 months.

Heta dug deep to edge out Gabriel Clemens in a deciding leg on Friday and has already picked up a brace of Players Championship titles in 2024.

Meanwhile, Michael van Gerwen resumes the defence of his title with a showdown against Dutch compatriot and World Cup teammate Danny Noppert.

Van Gerwen is the most successful player in World Series Finals history, having claimed the title on five occasions since 2015, and his only PDC title of 2024 so far came on the World Series at the Dutch Masters back in January.

He struggled past 2021 champion Jonny Clayton 6-4 on Friday in a match which saw both players average below 87, while Noppert was impressive in seeing off Gian van Veen 6-3 with an average of 98.8.

First Round and Second Round matches are to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
