Luke Littler captured the Poland Darts Masters title after a commanding 8-3 victory over Rob Cross in Gliwice on Saturday.

The recently crowned Premier League champion hit three ton-plus finishes and averaged 101.84 to claim the £20,000 top prize.

Littler landed his sixth silverware of the season – and second in the World Series after triumphing in Bahrain back in January.

Meanwhile, Cross was appearing in his third successive World Series showpiece, but fell at the final hurdle for the second week running after just missing out to Gerwyn Price at the Nordic Darts Masters.

After beating former World champions Peter Wright and Michael Smith earlier in the day, Littler checked out 104 to draw first blood.

Cross, who began his campaign with three ton-plus finishes with a dominant 6-1 rout of Sebastian Bialecki, thumped reigning champion Michael van Gerwen 7-2 in the semi-finals.

The 2018 World champion replied, but missed five darts at doubles in the next two legs as Littler clamed a crucial break and 3-1 lead.

The 17-year-old then crashed in a magnificent 164 checkout – the joint-highest finish of the weekend – though his opponent responded with a 116 to stay in touch at 4-2.

Littler’s third ton-plus finish – a 121 checkout – was countered by 70 from ‘Voltage’.

But the world number 25 turned on the style even more as the finish line drew nearer, as two 13-darters sandwiched a 14-darter to secure even more silverware.
