The top seed names begin their 2023 European Darts Grand Prix campaigns on Saturday as the Second Round action commences in Sindelfingen.

The ninth of 13 Euro Tour events this season features 48 players battling it out for £175,000 in prize money at the Glaspalast from May 26-28.

The top 16 players from the ProTour Order of Merit (as of April 4) are seeded and enter at the Second Round stage, while 32 qualifiers battle it out for the right to join them.

The afternoon session kicks off with a clash between Josh Rock, a three-time ranking finalist this year, and former World Youth Champion Keegan Brown.

Dave Chisnall, the number three seed, launches his quest for a third Euro Tour title of the season when he faces German newcomer Pascal Rupprecht – who edged out 2012 Lakeside Champion Christian Kist in Round One.

Reigning European Champion Ross Smith starts out against former Lakeside Champion Steve Beaton, while multiple ranking event winner Ryan Searle faces Latvian number one Madars Razma.

Former UK Open champion Danny Noppert faces a tricky opener against 21-year-old sensation Gian van Veen – a three-time Development Tour winner this year.

Second seed Dirk van Duijvenbode, runner-up at the European Darts Open in March, faces two-time major champion Daryl Gurney in one of the stand-out ties of the round.

Rob Cross, who picked up a Players Championship title last Saturday, aims to continue that blistering spell of form when he plays Martijn Kleermaker – who averaged 98.5 in a 6-4 win over Alan Soutar in Round One.

Australia’s Damon Heta, who is set to defend his World Cup title alongside Simon Whitlock next month, faces former World Masters winner Adam Smith-Neale.

The evening session begins with a battle between reigning UK Open champion Andrew Gilding and five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld – who is vying to cement his place in July’s World Matchplay.

Luke Humphries, a three-time Euro Tour runner-up in 2023, launches the defence of his title with a show-down against Premier League star Chris Dobey.

Dimitri Van den Bergh, who won Night 16 of the Premier League in Aberdeen, faces a formidable opener against Polish number one Krzysztof Ratajski – who averaged 107.4 in a 6-3 win over Graham Usher on Friday.

Germany’s top two darting talents collide on home soil as World Cup team-mates Martin Schindler and Gabriel Clemens go head-to-head.

Less than 48 hours on from his crushing defeat in the Premier League Semi-Finals at The O2, Jonny Clayton returns to action to face veteran Scotsman Ross Montgomery.

Gerwyn Price, the man responsible for that 10-2 drubbing of Clayton, also makes a swift return to the stage after his defeat to Michael van Gerwen in the Premier League final as he meets former Euro Tour finalist Ricky Evans.

Nathan Aspinall, who narrowly missed out on a place in the Premier League play-offs last week, opens up against former Grand Slam champion Jose De Sousa.

Former Premier League finalist Joe Cullen meets former ProTour event winner Josh Payne – who knocked out Whitlock in the opening round.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Second Round matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
