The big names begin their 2023 Czech Darts Open campaigns on Saturday as the Second Round action commences in Prague.

The eighth of 13 European Tour events this season features 48 players battling it out for £175,000 in prize money at the PVA Expo from May 12-14.

Day One saw former champion Jamie Hughes and former finalist Stephen Bunting among those to crash out in Round One, and a host of big hitters will be out to avert an early exit of their own on Saturday.

The afternoon session features a clash between fifth seed Dirk van Duijvenbode and Belgian veteran Mario Vandenbogaerde.

Van Duijvenbode finished runner-up in the European Open and was a semi-finalist in the International Open and Belgian Open, and has not failed to reach the Third Round in all seven Euro Tour events so far this season.

Vandenbogaerde battled back from 5-3 down to edge out Canada’s Matt Campbell in a deciding leg on Friday with an impressive 97 average.

The two most recent German Darts Grand Prix runners-up collide as Premier League star Nathan Aspinall takes on Martin Lukeman.

Josh Rock, runner-up in the Austrian Open and semi-finalist in last weekend’s Belgian Open, starts his latest quest for Euro Tour glory with a tie against Host Nation qualifier Dalibor Smolik – who pulled off a shock 6-4 win over Richard Veenstra in Round One.

Reigning UK Open champion Andrew Gilding faces former UK Open finalist Vincent van der Voort, while fourth seed Damon Heta meets emerging Irish talent Dylan Slevin.

Dave Chisnall, winner of two Euro Tour titles already this year, resumes his quest for a hat-trick when he comes up against Dutch left-hander Geert Nentjes.

German number two Martin Schindler takes on Belgian number two Kim Huybrechts – who thrashed an out of sorts Callan Rydz 6-1 on Friday.

Two multiple PDC ranking title winners go head-to-head as tenth seed Ryan Searle plays the evergreen Steve Beaton.

The evening session sees Luke Humphries launch his title defence with a show-down against reigning European Champion Ross Smith.

The pair met at this stage of the recent Dutch Championship, with Humphries prevailing 6-3 on his way to reaching the final, and he also finished runner-up in last week’s Belgian Open.

Michael van Gerwen, last weekend’s Belgian Open champion, starts his pursuit of back-to-back titles with a tricky tie against maximum machine Mike De Decker – who saw off Ian White in Round One.

Two-time World Champion Peter Wright aims to avoid a fifth Second Round exit on the Euro Tour this season when he comes up against former World Grand Prix finalist Brendan Dolan – who defeated Jelle Klaasen in his opener.

Sixth seed Rob Cross, three times a Euro Tour finalist last season, opens up against Latvia’s Madars Razma – who knocked out home favourite Adam Gawlas on Friday night.

Czech number two Karel Sedlacek, meanwhile, aims to raise the roof on home soil once more when he meets former Masters champion Joe Cullen.

Former UK Open champion Danny Noppert faces a tough opener against former Grand Slam champion Jose de Sousa – who averaged 98 in a 6-4 success over Bradley Brooks.

Austrian Open champion Jonny Clayton meets Martijn Kleermaker – who saw off Stephen Bunting in his opener, while former World Matchplay champion Dimitri Van den Bergh starts out against Switzerland’s Stefan Bellmont – appearing in the Second Round for only the second time.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Second Round matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
