The 2023 Belgian Darts Open reaches its climax in Wieze on Sunday as the 16 remaining players battle it out for the title.

A £30,000 top prize is up for grabs at the Oktoberhallen as 12 seeds and four qualifiers collide over two sessions.

The afternoon session plays host to the Third Round ties, before the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and final follow in the evening.

Dave Chisnall steps up the defence of his title, as well as a pursuit for back-to-back Euro Tour titles, when he takes on in-form Josh Rock in one of the stand-out ties of the Last 16.

Chisnall claimed the Dutch Darts Championship crown last weekend and opened up with a 100 average here in defeating Ricky Evans 6-2.

Recent Austrian Open finalist Rock, meanwhile, produced the performance of the day to dispatch Chris Dobey 6-2 with a 107 average, missing double 12 for a nine-darter in the process.

Gary Anderson resumes his bid for a first Euro Tour title since 2014 when he faces two-time European Champion Rob Cross.

Having suffered a shock early exit on his return in Leeuwarden last weekend, Anderson has returned to winning ways in style by overcoming Krzysztof Ratajski and Ryan Searle for the combined loss of just three legs and with match averages of 98 and 104.

Cross recovered from a slow start to see off Switzerland’s Stefan Bellmont 6-4 on Saturday and is now eyeing a third Euro Tour Quarter-Final appearance of the season.

Michael van Gerwen, whose most recent Euro Tour title came on this weekend 12 months ago at the European Darts Open, faces German ace Martin Schindler for the third time on the Euro Tour this season, having won their previous two meetings.

Van Gerwen survived a scare as he dug deep to edge out Jose De Sousa in a deciding leg on Saturday, while Schindler thrashed Daryl Gurney 6-1.

World number one and World Champion Michael Smith is eyeing a place in only a second Euro Tour Quarter-Final of the year when he meets German number one Gabriel Clemens.

Smith, who claimed the German Darts Grand Prix title last month and has secured back-to-back Premier League weekly titles, averaged 102 in a ruthless 6-2 win over home favourite Dimitri van den Bergh in Round Two.

Clemens, who replaced the injured Cameron Menzies via the Reserve List, has taken full advantage of his late call-up by defeating Graham Usher 6-0 and Peter Wright 6-5 for a rare appearance on the final day of a Euro Tour event.

Dirk van Duijvenbode, runner-up in the European Darts Open and a three-time ProTour event winner this season, faces in-form Canadian Matt Campbell.

Van Duijvenbode recorded a first career win over Dutch compatriot Raymond van Barneveld on Saturday, while Campbell has already claimed impressive 6-3 wins over Callan Rydz and Joe Cullen to reach the Last 16 of a Euro Tour event for the first time.

Top seed Luke Humphries is aiming to go one better than last week’s runner-up spot in Leeuwarden, and he comes up against Host Nation qualifier Andy Baetens.

Humphries survived a match dart from Bradley Brooks before edging through in a deciding leg with a 101 average, while WDF number one Baetens has continued his blistering run of form by defeating Jermaine Wattimena and Andrew Gilding for a dream debut so far.

Danny Noppert and Nathan Aspinall meet at this stage for a third consecutive weekend on the European Tour as ‘The Freeze’ aims to complete a hat-trick over the Premier League star.

Jonny Clayton defeated fourth seed Damon Heta 6-4 with the aid of a 161 checkout in their recent meeting at the Austrian Open before going on to win the title, and the Welshman will be hoping for a similar display when they go head-to-head once again.

The action gets under way from 12pm BST, with Third Round and Quarter-Final ties to be contested over the best of 11 legs, Semi-Finals best of 13 and the final best of 15.
