Gerwyn Price secured his second Premier League weekly title of the season after a 6-4 victory over Chris Dobey in the final in Nottingham.

Price bounced back from successive Quarter-Final defeats to scoop the £10,000 bonus at the Motorpoint Arena and move up to second in the league table.

The Welshman, whose first weekly title of the campaign came on home soil in Cardiff last month, produced a superb display in the final to deny Dobey his second triumph of the tournament.

Price began the night with a 6-4 win over World Cup team-mate Jonny Clayton, before averaging 101 and taking out 156 on his way to defeating Dimitri van den Bergh by the same score-line.

He then overturned a 4-3 deficit in the final by reeling off three consecutive legs to claim glory and bolster his hopes of reaching the play-offs for the first time.

“I thought I played pretty well tonight, I just missed a few doubles which let people in games,” said Price.

“I’ve been playing well for the last couple of weeks, but players just keep pipping me in games.

“I was really edgy against Jonny, I very rarely feel as nervous as I did in that game; I knew I could slip down the table if I lost so I needed that win and then I found my feet in the last two matches.

“The crowds have been good for me the last couple of weeks and that makes me play better, hopefully I can kick on and make the Play-Offs.”

It was Dobey who struck first in the final with an 86 checkout before doubling his advantage by virtue of a 112 finish.

Price got off the mark with a 13-darter before firing in back-to-back checkouts of 110 and 138 to go in front.

The pair then exchanged legs six and seven before a 13-darter on tops moved Price to the verge of victory at 5-3.

However, five missed match darts handed Dobey a reprieve on double one to stay alive, but Price made no mistake in closing out the match in the following leg on tops.

Dobey had earlier defeated Michael Smith 6-4 to register his first win since the opening night, having led 5-0 before Smith reeled off four consecutive legs to threaten a miraculous comeback.

The Masters champion then pulled off a sensational 6-0 whitewash of Michael van Gerwen to end the Dutchman’s 10-match unbeaten run and inflict his first whitewash defeat in ten years as a Premier League player.

Dobey’s run to the final sees him move to eight points, leaving Peter Wright rooted to the foot of the table and five points adrift.

Semi-finalists Van Gerwen and Dimitri Van den Bergh left the East Midlands with two points apiece thanks to Quarter-Final wins over Wright and Nathan Aspinall respectively.

The Premier League road-show heads to Newcastle next Thursday, featuring a repeat of all four of this week’s Quarter-Final ties.
