The 2022 German Darts Grand Prix gets under way in Munich on Saturday as the qualifiers collide in Round One.

The third PDC European Tour event of the season features 47 players battling it out for £140,000 in prize money at the Zenith in Munich from April 16-18.

The top 16 players from the ProTour Order of Merit are seeded and enter at the Second Round stage on Sunday, while 32 qualifiers battle it out for the right to join them.

Among the notable names entering at the First Round stage include five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld – who marks his first Euro Tour outing of the season with a clash against former World Masters finalist James Wilson.

World number 14 Dave Chisnall is the highest ranked player in action on the opening day as he takes on Ipswich left-hander Ryan Meikle – a seven-time Development Tour event winner.

Two quick-fire Dutch stars collide as Jeffrey de Zwaan meets crowd favourite Vincent van der Voort, while the evening session also sees UK Open semi-finalist Keane Barry face Host Nation qualifier Lukas Wenig – one of five Germans in the line-up.

Recent ProTour event finalist Martin Schindler looks to continue his blistering start to the season when he plays former World Grand Prix quarter-finalist Jermaine Wattimena.

American ace Danny Baggish faces Switzerland’s Thomas Junghans, while former Euro Tour event winner Max Hopp aims to delight a partisan German crowd when he comes up against Scottish star Alan Soutar.

Kim Huybrechts, twice a European Tour event winner, starts out against Latvian number one Madars Razma, while the afternoon session features a tie between recent Players Championship event winner Jim Williams and Associate Member Qualifier Wesley Plaisier of the Netherlands.

Martin Lukeman, who defeated Damon Heta with a 104 average on his way to the Last 16 of the German Championship in March, returns to face former World Youth finalist Adam Gawlas.

The opening match of the afternoon sees Croatia’s Boris Krcmar take on Luke Woodhouse, before Sweden’s Daniel Larsson meets a resurgent Berry van Peer.

Former World Youth Champion Keegan Brown faces fellow young gun Adam Hunt, while former World Masters winner John O’Shea opens up against two-time ProTour event winner Chris Dobey in one of the stand-out ties of the day.

Two-time BDO World Champion Scott Waites and Host Nation hopeful Dragutin Horvat go head-to-head for the right to face reigning World Champion Peter Wright in Round Two.

The action gets under way from 12pm GMT, with First Round matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs.
