Fallon Sherrock aims to continue her ground-breaking run at the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts when she faces Peter Wright in the Quarter-Finals on Saturday.

Sherrock has created global headlines once again thanks to more historic exploits on the televised stage, becoming the first female to reach the Quarter-Finals of a PDC major.

After winning two games at the World Championship at Ally Pally two years ago, Sherrock is blazing the trail for women’s darts once again and is now looking to pull off a sensational scalp of the world number two.

Having lost to 5-1 to Wright in their Group E opener last weekend, Sherrock is out to gain revenge in what will be the longest competitive match she has contested to date.

The 27-year-old bounced back from that defeat by whitewashing Mike De Decker with a women’s televised record average of 101.5, before recovering from 3-1 down to secure the 5-3 win she required over Gabriel Clemens to progress to the Last 16, sealing the deal in sensational fashion with a 170 checkout.

Sherrock then repeated her infamous triumph over Mensur Suljovic at Ally Pally in 2019 by brushing aside the Austrian 10-5 in the Last 16.

Sherrock is already guaranteed £20,000 in prize money, but a further win here would double that sum and effectively secure a Tour Card outright for next season, having also qualified for next month’s World Championship.

Wright, however, is tasked with tearing up the script as he bids to reach his fourth Grand Slam Semi-Final since 2016.

Twice a runner-up in this event, the colourful Scot has been far from his brilliant best so far, averaging just 91.3 for the tournament.

The reigning World Matchplay champion topped Group E ahead of Sherrock on legs difference before narrowly edging out defending champion Jose de Sousa 10-9 in the Last 16 despite an average of just 90.4.

Wright has never lost at this stage of the event and will be determined to remain in the running to lift the Eric Bristow Trophy on Sunday for the first time.

The match gets under way from around 8.30pm GMT and will be contested over the best of 31 legs.

Either three-time champion Michael van Gerwen or former world finalist Michael Smith will await the winner in Saturday’s Semi-Finals.
