The field of players and draw for the 2019 Players Championship Finals have been confirmed following the 30th and final ProTour event of the season.
Following Players Championship 30 on Tuesday, the top 64 players from the Players Championship Order of Merit comprise the line-up for November’s finals at the Butlins Minehead Resort.
The Players Championship Order of Merit is based on prize money acquired solely from Players Championship events in 2019 and has been topped by Gerwyn Price – who racked up three titles during the campaign.
Price will start out against Northern Ireland’s Mickey Mansell – who secured the 64th and final place in the £500,000 major.
Reining champion Daryl Gurney is seeded number 14 and will begin his title defence against former Challenge Tour event winner Luke Woodhouse, while four-time champion Michael van Gerwen is seeded 18th as a result of his limited participation in floor tournaments this year and starts out against World Championship quarter-finalist Luke Humphries.
Arguably the pick of the First Round ties sees reigning UK Open champion Nathan Aspinall take on five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld – who will make his penultimate appearance in a televised major in Minehead before bringing the curtain down on his glittering career.
Lakeside Champion Glen Durrant will make his debut as the number five seed and faces former BDO rival Scott Baker, while second seed James Wade meets emerging star Ted Evetts.
Ian White, one of the most consistent ProTour performers this season, takes on South African ace Devon Petersen, while World Grand Prix runner-up Dave Chisnall plays ‘Prime Time’ Matthew Edgar.
Peter Wright, winner of three ProTour titles in 2019, opens up against European Championship quarter-finalist James Wilson, while another tasty tie sees Mensur Suljovic and 2012 finalist Kim Huybrechts collide.
European Matchplay winner Joe Cullen and Australian ace Kyle Anderson go head-to-head, as do former World Matchplay semi-finalist Jeffrey de Zwaan and former European Champion Simon Whitlock.
World finalist Michael Smith faces German number three Martin Schindler, while Krzysztof Ratajski – twice a winner on the ProTour this season – meets Irish star Steve Lennon.
Gary Anderson is the notable absentee from the competition after finishing 91st on the Players Championship Order of Merit, while the likes of Robert Thornton (71st), Darren Webster (81st), Jamie Lewis (105th) and Corey Cadby (120th) also miss out.
The tournament runs from November 22-24 at Butlins Minehead, with the schedule of play for both stages to be confirmed in due course.
